I just cannot believe that Gael Clichy has been excluded from the French squad. That is sheer utter madness. Doesn’t Raymond Domenech watch Premier League games? How on earth can you think that Eric Abidal of Barcelona is a better player? That is unbelievable. I am disappointed for Clichy, of course I am but after the amount of games he has had this season I am pleased that we should start the season with a fresh world class left back, wanting to prove himself.

Our other full back Bacary Sagna has also been omitted from the French squad for the Euro 2008 championships.

“This is neither a surprise nor a disappointment. It’s just bizarre,” Sagna said. “I had prepared for this eventuality due to my injury. These are the vagaries of football. I am injured at the wrong time.”

This decision is a little more understanding as he hasn’t played first team football since the defeat to Chelsea and he needed games to get his match fitness and sharpness back to the right level.

So that is five so far who will be missing the Euros.

Hopefully Cesc will not be a starter for Spain and we will be in good shape. Notice how I left Robin Van Persie out of all of this because everyone knows that he will return injured for the start of the season. Come on Robin! Just one season of full fitness.. PLEASE!!

So did you hear the one about the Nasri bid apparently accepted in the French press yesterday? Nothing concrete there as far as I could see. To be honest, I know very little about Sami Nasri but 11 goals in 121 appearances, a player who plays behind the striker but can also play out wide reminds me very much of a certain player we have in our squad. That doesn’t instantly fill me with confidence. I would like to see an out and out winger who can score goals and beat his man with speed and ability. The question is, does Arsene see Walcott as that player? He has never played two out and out wingers in his time at Arsenal. Usually one of those players have been creative playmakers (Pires, Rosicky, Hleb) or defensive minded players (Parlour, Eboue) So perhaps I do not imagine Ben Arfa walking through the doors at the Emirates.

Wenger likes the creative right footed left winger who can cut in link with Cesc and the strikers. Ben Arfa would be going outside the right back and have limited options. Manchester United can play with two wide players who swing crosses into the box because it is their style. Arsenal’s style is pass and move. Interestingly enough Wenger has never played a left footed player on the right. Maybe now we have more left footed strikers we may see this is future. The right footed winger has been able to play a pass to a right footed center midfielder or striker so they can continue cutting in towards goal. Van Persie, Eduardo and Vela are all left footed strikers.

Santa Cruz is the latest player to be linked to us but I cannot even be bothered to talk about it because it is clearly rubbish. How many times does Arsene have to say that he doesn’t want a striker.

Yesterday’s Your Vision article caused a bit of a stir amongst some of you readers. The whole point of the section was so some of you guys can have your own say, the trouble is some of you are thinking that it is an article from myself or the other writers on the site. I obviously do not agree with every article that I put up but it would be very one sided if I didn’t include articles like yesterday’s.

Good news, we have moved to tie down Jack Wilshere at the club. He will sign a new 5 year deal when he turns 17. He will certainly be a first team squad player in the next couple years.
