Whilst I love the banter between clubs and their supporters, it sticks in my craw when I read some of the remarks and articles that not only run down the best manager in the world but also the only great club in the world.

If most of you had followed the Gunners for as many year as Ive done you would shut up immediately and thank whoever is up there for giving us Arsene Wenger. Before you trot out more abuse I will just remind you of my 58 years of supporting AFC.

After Joe Mercer turning an average sied into cup winners….we went 18 years …YES 18 without winning a raffle! We got knocked out of the cups by teams like , Walsall, Peterborough, Northampton, in fact its was a joy to lose to a first division team. Thats how poor we were. BUt unlike most of you I kept on supporting the lads and thats where my generation differ to yours. We supported our club through the lot. Not when they just win trophies.

Then after Arsenal stood up with Bertie Mee and broke the spell in 1970/72, we thought ‘Thats it we have the best side in Europe and we will dominate football for 10 years. We should have but we had the same weak and pathetic board of old Etonian chinless & gutless wonders that holds us back today. Needless to say that Mee had t sell our best to buy who he wanted like C.George for Alan Ball. etc etc.

This has been the pattern throughout the years ie; another Massiah turns up like Gierge Graham…builds a great side ready to dominate and bingo it falls apart within a couple of winning years.

Then (thank whoever) the old school tie lot make another leap into the area they should never go and sign Bruce Rioch who bless him buys Bergkamp. How i will never know, but its soon obvious he is a Keegan and not up to it.

David Dein who should be our chairman….insists on Arsene Wenger. From day one everything is changed. We start to play football on the ground. Kids come through and see off some very poor ‘experience players’. Unknowns a bought for pennies, and become superstars. The ground is replaced by ‘The Emirates’ and suddenly our 60,000 seats are full every game. AW plans all of this and agrees to struggle along on a pittance to spend whilst all this transition takes place and until the old Highbury flats are sold and the debt is reduced. This will be next year. Somehow..UNLIKE ALL HIS COMPETITION AW KEEPS AFC AT THE TOP BY BRINGING IN TALENTED KIDS.

This keeps us in the top 4 and gives us the best team in the league. All the other teams in Europe come to watch our football. All the press and the doommongers above forecast a top 10 finsih with pretenders like Spurs to overtake us.

In fact AFC should have won the title and would have but for a sudden spate of disgusting and worrying BIG decisions going only against us in the month of March ?? We also lost out similarly to Liverpool in the Champs League via another three ‘bent?’ decisions all going in favour of a Lancastrian side ??

So after all that we lost the title to the mighty superstars of ManU & Chelski by not 20 points but 4. And unlike them when we had a couple of our team butchered ad put out for the season, we did not rush out and spend another £50/100 mill…..Arsene just got on with it.

In conclusion you wasters above…..learn your history about our clu and support the ‘the greatest’ throughout.
