Wenger has taken Arsenal from being an old fashioned English club where the boys still went for a pint after training at noon, to becoming one of Europes real powerhouses (despite success in the CL). Yes there has been a silverware drought

Granted, there are many, many Arsenal fans that would happily pay to see more boring and less beautiful, winning football. Speaking from a different perspective, why put eyebrows on the Mona Lisa. Of course success in the silverware makes or breaks a team. Mr Wenger has made Arsenal, not just onto a team that represents what football stands for on the pitch but off the field to. Humility and respect, two things which are increasingly missing from the modern of football, where players are payed more and more, and their behaviour becomes more and more extreme, as if many players think themselves rockstars. They are not, they are role models to billions of people all over the world.
The point that is being made, is that in this time of commodification of football (Mr Ibramovich) Mr Wenger has managed to grow and not just buy, as is now the norm, a team of Individuals that are real role models, with regards to their behaviour on and off the pitch. This youth squad defeated European Champs, AC Milan, In Milan. That youth squad in fact made the European Champs look like old men. Secondly, the loss of Eduardo, another relatively unknown who was starting to shine, was unpredictable, but still highlights Mr Wengers keen ability to see players not for their talents today but their talents tomorrow. Take Henry, another relative unknown, Wenger turned him into a star, who grew too big for the team.
Wenger has taken Arsenal from being an old fashioned English club where the boys still went for a pint after training at noon, to becoming one of Europes real powerhouses (despite success in the CL). Yes there has been a silverware drought, but in a season where Wengers team without any multi million dollar superstars, were predicted to not even qualify for the CL, not only qualified, but challenged for four trophies, made it to the semis of one, the quarters of another and finished four points behind the English champions.
Wengers vision is simply the best in Europe, lucks a bitch that is never predictable, sometimes shes in your bed, most times shes not. This youth team has the potential to grow into one of the most legendary squads in football history. Walcott alone has the potential to be even greater than Henry and yes all it will take is time and patience.
Of course, as fans, we want to see silverware, most importantly though, I want to see silverware won by proving beautiful football and successful football can be one and the same thing. We as fans merely need to have faith in the greatest manager Arsenal has ever had.
I’m from South Africa, so obviously a trip to the Emirates is out of the question, but I wear my top. My scarf and my cap. Even in a Nation were at times it seems the National team is Manchester United, my job as a fan is to wear my Gunners top regardless, after victory and defeat! The Gunners are the greatest and we cannot let Manc fans forget that!
