1% and Nasri’s ours / Cesc’s a Gooner

Is the potential capture of Nasri his highest profile prospect of his Arsenal reign? How good can this lad become? It is something to look forward to if we can keep him long enough

This morning it looks as if we are faced with positive and negative news hanging over our heads. I can imagine a record breaking number of fans watching newsnow like hawk, expecting the Nasri signing, it didn’t materialise.

Apparently Samir Nasri is 1% away from being an Arsenal player.

Nasri has said that he is

“99% certain”

of joining Arsenal and that things were progressing normally.

I think the sooner it happens the better, we do not want this to drag on for to long as the boss has other things to attend to over the up coming months.

Which brings me nicely onto Robin Van Persie. Apparently Van Persie has come out and ‘slammed the Arsenal pay structure’ I am not sure if that is quite the case as I haven’t seen the interview for myself.

“Arsenal have a policy in which they will not go over a specific amount of money when agreeing the salary of a player,” said the Dutchman. “They won’t pay enormous amounts of money. I think they should go to a higher level of salary.

“If you want to keep the group together, you have to keep them happy. If you are 27 or 28, I can understand that you would make the decision to go elsewhere if you can earn three or four times as much. If that sort of money was also paid here, I’m sure that person would stay.

“I think of myself as an Arsenal man but Arsenal should also try to make sure that we all grow together.”

I am very happy with Arsene’s transfer policy I think it is a fantastic way to build a squad and team but the one thing I would change when the flats are sold and our debt is more manageable is restructure the wages. Apparently we are already third highest in England when it comes to paying our players and it is hard for me to comment unless I saw a breakdown of where the wages where going compared to the United squad but we have to make sure we keep up with the bigger clubs, the Barcelona’s, Real Madrid’s etc

As long as it is within our own resources then it has to be done otherwise we will continue to have players up and leave to earn more elsewhere. Times have changed, players are less likely to stay for the love of the club. Flamini clearly sacrificed good attacking football for a team who have been on the way down to earn more money. He is not the only player who would do that.

As Squid boy mentioned yesterday Van Persie could well have been taken out of context. Is it me or are the media not making enough of the Ronaldo to Real Madrid story. Am I being paranoid when I say that if it was an Arsenal player then the tabloid would be twisting it all over the place. From what I have read, they seem very factual about it and not joining in the unsettling.

When I cast my mind back to Vieira to Real Madrid and Henry to Barcelona they seemed alot more aggressive in their attempts to unsettle the club.

There is an interesting article from the telegraph about the financial situation of the Premier League clubs.

Interesting to see an 8% increase in wages, even after Henry and Ljungberg have departed from the squad.

Cesc Fabregas has once again stood up and shouted at the top of his voice that he is staying at Arsenal and wants to remain a Gooner.

“I will stay at Arsenal,” Fabregas said in The Sun. “My coach asked me and I told him he had my confidence.

“I’d love to win the Premier League and I am one of those players who fight for what they want until they achieve it.”

It would be one sad day if the young Spaniard decided to up sticks. Sure we would cope and no player is bigger than the club etc but saying that didn’t make life any easier when Patrick Vieira left the club.

If we can keep the players in that age group, the Cesc’s, Nasri’s, Walcott’s, Clichy’s then we will have the best team in the world without question.

Having young talented players who are growing up and improving is one thing, but having a collection of players who are developing a friendship and understanding on the pitch is something quite special that you are never likely to see at Chelsea.

We will not have it our own way in the future because it looks like Alex Ferguson is also doing the same job but on a higher budget (at the expense of the club of course)

Ronaldo, Rooney, Nani, Anderson etc will also be great players and in a weird way I would like them to stay together so we can fight with them all the way every season. Ok, forget that idea. How about they all leave and are replaced by Robbie Savage’s brother Bobby Savage.

This is for those who are sitting around hoping for a superstar signing. Click link
