Now I’d like to start by saying at the time of writing this article I have just got back in from a major piss up!! But felt it was necessary to post whilst out of my face.

Ok so let’s start by saying I have been trying to keep up to date with all the latest transfer ramblings and have constantly come across rather bitter fans slating the likes of Flamini and Hleb for leaving Arsenal and thus letting us down. Now I am a die hard fan that feels that players should show their loyalty to the club and help us push on from last season to become a better team fighting for the title next year.

Yet lately i have been trying to see things from their point of view especially since it is more than one player looking for the way out, I have come to realize that as bitter as we may be it is only fair that we come to understand that playing football at the professional level is a full time job and these boys work bloody hard all season … training and playing games to keep us happy but first and foremost to keep themselves happy.

Now in the case of Flamini … here we have a defensive midfielder that can’t exactly classify himself as the most technical. He has also come through 3 tough gruelling seasons to finally prove himself worthy in the most physically demanding league in the world. Plaudits have been coming his way all season and I feel that after playing against the like of AC Milan where Gattusso is seen as a little god, even though he was only ever considered average before moving to Italy, Our little Flim Flam has seen that life can be much easier and rewards far greater at the San Siro whilst stepping into the boots of a legend with particular ease and gaining godly status without really having to shift a gear. Now how can we really blame the boy for taking this step when all the odds favour an easier more fruitful life?

Hleb is the other player looking to move away and here we come to the same sort of argument. This is a highly technical player with magic ball control that can now ‘through the experiences of playing in the premiership glide past the most malicious of challenges with virtual simplicity. Here we have a player who watches the likes of Kaka and Messi who have excelled at their clubs claiming accolade after accolade because they can glide past players with ease. These players are also offered more protection in the foreign leagues (namely the Calcio and La Liga) and will constantly be recognized as the world’s best players for years to come whilst earning a fair penny on the way. However much it hurts we have to understand that these boys have to look out for what they feel is best for themselves.
