Did France remind you of Arsenal?

Under George Graham we were the most compact side in England. Strong throughout the side and every player knew their defensive responsibilities

I didn’t manage to watch the France Italy game, I decided to play football instead but I wish I hadn’t as everyone else had other ideas and decided to stay home and watch the game. So instead of 11 a side we ended up with 4 a side, not quite the same. Anyway, luckily I have Sky + (how did I ever not have it before?! Jeez) so I watched the game late even though I knew the score. Fantastic Nasri is coming on for Ribery early in the match so I get to see what he is about in a big game, until Abidal got himself sent off and Nasri the substitute was substituted. Poor guy, how must he have felt? All he managed to do was play a few very simple passes and chase the opposition when they were in possession of the ball.

What we can be almost certain of is his agent not asking for his client to get more money after his Euro performances.

If you managed to watch the game, can I ask you a question? Which team did they remind you of?

Had more possession than the Italians, they created chances, played the ball to feet and tried to play 1-2’s around the opposition penalty area but just looked a little short of scoring. But there back four were left hopelessly open to counter attacks. Domenech should be sacked purely on the crazy decision to take Abidal over Clichy. Ok, Eric Abidal played in a new position in place of Thurham who looked his age against Holland. But the make shift center half looked terrible in the time he managed to stay on the pitch.

Italy looked compact and defended well as a team, the French were the opposite and that is the problem with Arsenal. Under George Graham we were the most compact side in England. Strong throughout the side and every player knew their defensive responsibilities. Under Wenger the team has a lot of gaps between each position. Arsene purposely has 4 quick defenders at the back to mop up any counter attacks that the opposition attempt to muster. Sometimes our biggest strength is also our downfall. We have so much of the ball that teams are forced to play one way which is negatively and we can get caught out by one direct ball in between our defenders.

The same problem was happening to the French last night and this has sent them home with 0 wins. Time for Mr birth date to go and bring in someone who is not living in cloud cuckoo land wherever that maybe.

So Nasri couldn’t quite have the tournament that he dreamed of before the Euro’s began. But if he does sign for Arsenal you can bet that he will be one of the stars of the team come the World Cup.

Hopefully, he can get a flight straight to North London and finalise the deal by the end of the week.

I still have my fingers crossed for another center back and I am hoping that Arsene already has players who just have to have the final details completed, which I am sure he probably has.

So the Adebayor to Milan rumours have died down, great! But guess what, we are now going for round 2 this time Barcelona have stepped into the ring to throw punches at Arsene and Arsenal football club. Well if true, they will be told to ‘Fax Off’ as the Sun have said.

It seems like the Raul Albiol rumour is untrue, as his agent has rejected any truth in a bid from Arsenal.

“I have not received a call from Arsenal, or any other club,” Quilon told AS.

“This story is not true. The youngster is very concentrated on his work with Spain at Euro 2008 and is very content at Valencia.”

Well done to Robin for smashing in a nice goal for the Dutch against Romania, lets hope he can keep this up after the Euro’s and during the season.

Have a good day. Drop your view in the comments.

Until tomorrow.
