How Arshavin could effect Hleb’s future

This is purely speculation of course but it would leave Hleb in a position where he would have to choose another club or sit his backside down at Arsenal, sign a new contract and get on with working for Arsenal

Congratulations to Cesc Fabregas for tucking away the final penalty for Spain, the guy has so much bottle for someone so young. We witnessed the Arsenal Fabregas when he replaced Xavi on 59 minutes. He dominated the midfield from when he came on until he left the field.

Aragones certainly isn’t a coach who is afraid of making changes is he? Taking off Xavi and then replacing Torres with Cazorla. Changes that would have come back to haunt him had they went wrong.

Russia vs Spain will be a good game and a completely different game to the 4-1 Spanish win earlier in the tournament. Russia with Arshavin are different from Russia without.

Arshavin has come out and spoken about his clients desire to join Barcelona.

He said: “Perhaps the time has come, yes.

“I know that I have offers from England and Germany but where I really want is to play in Spain.

“It’s the championship that I have always followed. I like how football is played there.

“But for now, I have no offers from Spain.”

That sounds like a come and get me plea if I’ve ever heard one. Surely Barcelona like everyone else in Europe must be impressed with the talented Russian and might well make moves to take him to Camp Nou.

But would there be room for Arshavin and Hleb? Along with Messi, Xavi, Iniesta etc

I don’t think so.

They would be in the same price bracket, same age, same positions on the pitch. It is obvious who is the higher rated player at the moment.

This is purely speculation of course but it would leave Hleb in a position where he would have to choose another club or sit his backside down at Arsenal, sign a new contract and get on with working for Arsenal. Arsene Wenger has come out airing his appreciation of the Russians.

“The eye is always looking at who can strengthen Arsenal,” Wenger said in the Daily Express.

“You always think, ‘could this player play for your team?’ or perhaps there is a good player you didn’t know.

“Mainly I would say that you discovered only Russian players at this tournament because you see them playing less. All the others you know.”

I thought Arsene would be impressed. Against Holland I thought their attempt to walk the ball in the net would have left our manager fairly excited. I would hope that Arsene gets a chance to speak to Arshavin because if there is one man who can convince a quality footballer to join the club then that man is Mr Wenger.

Does anyone remember the where’s Wally books? Well it could be worth doing a remake called Where’s Nasri? Hopefully we should spot him in the next few days.

Have a good day. Drop your view in the comments.

Until tomorrow.
