Another summer, another big Arsenal plyer linked with a move elsewhere. Would it feel like summer if it didn’t happen? For over 10 years we gooners have had to put up with the long difficult close season full of rumours and headlines wich may or may not be true.

This year we’ve had to deal with 2 players being targeted, Hleb and Adebayor. The Hleb situation is completely different to Adebayor’s. I honestly believe he and Flamini were best friends and he does seek the quiet life. Hleb is not a glory seeking ego maniac. He is a simple man from a difficult childhood. His mother was a bricklayer and his father worked cleaning up after the Chernobyl disaster. Hleb is like the Anti Chelski player, never out clubbing or vomiting is random girls cars. I honestly think he’d be happy to take a pay cut and play in a nice little German team.

Adebayor on the other hand can be accurately described as a glory seeking ego maniac. You could see from his goal celebrations he was trying to be like Henry. But Henry took 4-5 years to get that arrogant and noncholant and he had consistantly scored 25-30 goals a season.

There’s no doubt Adebayor has come on leaps and bounds in the past year. He shouldered the responsibility of being our main goal scorer very well. And he loved the fans for showing their appreciation and giving him his own song. If you listen to Adebayor interviews you’ll see how fast he talks. He shoots from the hip and is NOT a crafty b*stard. When he talks about coming from Africa and playing football on the streets with not boots you can see he hasn’t forgotten it.

This is why I think this whole Adebayor saga reeks of AGENTS. His Agent will have been like a little devil sitting next to him stirring sh*t up inside him. And why not? The way football works at the moment Agents get huge cash rewards everytime their clients move clubs so why wouldn’t they try to engineer a big money transfer at every opportunity? If Adebayor’s agent gets just 5% of the transfer fee he could make £1.5 MILLION, in just a few months. And all he has to do is manipulate a footballer.

I get pissed off just like the rest of you when I read quotes from Adebayor and his agent demanding Arsenal FC show him love and pay him what he deserves, and then denying its about the money. But we need to acknowledge the Agent’s role in this affair.

I think Adebayor’s time at Arsenal could well be up. He is obviously a confidence player. He responds well to love and adulation from the fans and the press. But he would crumble if he stayed and us Gooners took out our frustration on him on the pitch. His hunger would dry up, he would not be able to stop thinking about it. Then the other players would feel sorry for him and get upset with the fans and all of a sudden you’ll have more dressing room unrest.

No, I don’t believe Adebayor knows quite what he’s doing. He is a victim of some very bad advice from a typically greedy Agent. Now, thanks to his devious, lecherous Agent he is demanding too much money and has upset the fans who loved him. There is no way back for him and he will regret what happened this summer for a long time I predict.

If only he was as smart and loyal as our beloved Cesc. His Agent kept stirring sh*t up with Real and Barca so he sacked him and signed a new contract with Arsenal.
