Bacary Sagna has been talking about contracts and players leaving Arsenal.

“The uncertainty around Alex Hleb and Emmanuel Adebayor’s futures is all part of football,” the 25-year-old told L’Equipe. “Mathieu Flamini has left, and he was an important part of our midfield.”

“It is a shame, but I am not too worried. Samir Nasri is due to join us soon, and there are also a lot of young players knocking on the door – it could be a good opportunity to give them their chance.

“If Emmanuel was to go, it would be a big loss, even though we are not yet at that stage.”

Sagna has joined Almunia in letting slip that Nasri is a Gunner, he is right about it being a shame because all three players were/are key to our improvement last season. As I have said before I think Wenger can replace those who have either left or are due to leave but it is the impression that this gives to the other teams, our fans etc that is the most damaging.

I still find it hard to believe that it was Sagna’s first season in England and at Arsenal football club. You would only imagine that at his age he will only improve. Left wingers, be warned.

Especially with the way transfers and contracts are going these days. Had Arshavin been 22 years old then I would see that as good business. But three years away from 30 and a 1 year rolling contract? hmmm, not so sure. Anyway his agent hinted that it could well be Arsenal interested.

“There are clubs interested in Andrei who are trying to sell players first,” added Lachter. “The figure is not easy to reach, but the transfer activity is beginning to happen and I am optimistic he will join a big club.”
