It appears that Ronaldinho, Eto’o, Adebayor, Hleb, Arshavin, Drogba are all linked to each other this summer. I expect this years transfers to come right to the end of the window
Another morning of rumour and speculation. Can we just fast forward to Saturday so we can talk about reality, something with some real substance. It is quite annoying because I am going out for a late 30th birthday piss up and it starts really early so I may have to miss the match. I am trying to think of a way to get out of it but it will prove tricky as it is my own birthday do!
ok, enough of me. Apparently Wenger’s link to Gareth Barry is REAL according to the sun, it almost sounds like they have surprised themselves after they mentioned this story a week or so ago.
Martin O’Neil said:
“Myself and Steve Walford both know Arsene Wenger’s assistant Pat Rice. “He phoned Steve to ask how the Liverpool thing had gone and said that they might show an interest. “At the end of the conversation Arsenal said ‘that’s fine’ and that they’ll let us know. That is exactly what happened.”
Like I said Arsene will not pay above £8 million for a 27 year old Gareth Barry. Arshavin? I think he would pay big money for because he is a talent. He is what Wenger wants in a player. I reckon he could pick up a French equivalent for half the price quoted for the England international. Don’t get me wrong, I think Barry is a good player with a good range of passing, good at set pieces has a decent shot and obviously knows the in’s and out’s of the Premier League but not at his age or price.
Carlos Vela is hoping that Cesc Fabregas will take him under his young wings next season.
Vela, 19, said:
“Cesc Fabregas is my idol and I hope he will help me in the early months.”
Good on you Carlos. He seems to be making the right noises so far early in his Arsenal career. I have a very good feeling about this chap, I think he will be a super player at Arsenal. The trouble for him is that he has some good names infront of him already and he will probably need a season to bed in and get accustomed to the speed and physical nature of English football.
That makes me wonder if Wenger would buy a striker to replace Ade is he was to leave. It would be a massive gamble not to as Adebayor brought 30 goals along with him last season and there is no guarantee that another striker would be able to do that.
But then what is the point in having so many forwards at the club if they do not get the chance to play. Van Persie, Bendtner, Eduardo, Vela and even Walcott are fighting for two positions upfront. Then you have Nasri, Rosicky who can both play behind the front man in a 4-4-1-1 or a 4-5-1.
We are still waiting for the transfer roundabout to take place but we need someone to jump on the ride first. It appears that Ronaldinho, Eto’o, Adebayor, Hleb, Arshavin, Drogba are all linked to each other this summer. I expect this years transfers to come right to the end of the window, so don’t expect it to be the end of this speculation just because it is pre season training.
Right, need food. Back tomorrow, drop your view in the comments.
Until tomorrow.
