It feels like I am saying goodbye to a player every couple of days right now. First Flamini then Hleb and now Gilberto. I pretty much said all I needed to yesterday but as it is confirmed and Berty is not a greedy bastard I shall take off my bowler hat and bow to you sir for all the good work that you put in. Thank you for protecting the back four so well during the invisible season, thank you for filling in at center half without complaint, thank you for dragging the team forward a couple years back when we were struggling. Your work on the pitch was sometimes unnoticed but you being a proper man and professional certainly isn’t. *cue tears.

So what to make of Thier.. I mean Emmanuel Adebayor? Mr I am god is now somewhat in limbo hoping that all these teams will be fighting to sign him and pay him what he needs to retire. He hasn’t got long. Well, maybe the rumours of him not being his true age are true if he is looking forward to his pension.

The Gareth Barry rumours are in full flow with every media outlet rehashing the same link without any substance. I still think they are putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5. I would be very surprised if Wenger was to pay over £15 million for a 27 year old. Even during the times when we were a little more flush, we never paid out that sort of money. I am of course open to be surprised though.

So Thierry Henry was voted as Arsenal’s best player on Arsenal.com with his past strike partner Dennis Bergkamp in second place. I actually thought more fans would have switched that around but I think I agree with that. Henry produced so many goals and assists to our team over the years and then to add his speed and direct style, he was simply irresistible. How he didn’t claim world player of the year as a Gooner is quite insulting really.

Not much else going on right now so I will leave it for another day. Looking forward to our first friendly tomorrow.
