The season sort of starts today as we play our first friendly of the new season. I am excited and a little disappointed

Whoo hoo! The season sort of starts today as we play our first friendly of the new season. I am excited and a little disappointed. Excited at the prospect of watching the potential of Aaron Ramsay and new youngster Francis Coquelin who was spotted by Grimandi playing in some low French league.

The bad news is that Carlos Vela will not be taking part in the game (according to Arsenal TV)

Arsene has had a few things to say..

“I’m in a position to spend, but we have done such a great job with the young players that I’m concerned we’d kill a young player by bringing another one in,”

“It’s a sensitive subject, not especially linked to money.”

Arsene on Ramsay (not literally)

“I think in the future he will be a central midfielder,” said Wenger.

“How is down to him and down to us on how well we work with him.

“In my mind though there are no restrictions on his development because he has played a lot already.”

“We watched him throughout the whole season,” said Wenger.

“We were always on the case, but unfortunately we weren’t the only ones because Liverpool, Man United and Everton were strongly behind the case.

“It was a big satisfaction for us that we were able to beat these teams to signing him.”

Tomas Rosicky will miss the start of the season.

“I know I’ll miss the start of the club season,” Rosicky told the Czech newspaper Sport.

“According to plans I should be back on the field in September.”

Unfortunatley, I do not have time today to write this as I have so many things that I need to do before this afternoon. But have a great day and enjoy the game.
