New Arsenal signing Samir Nasri who was speaking to French newspaper L’Equipe (seems like rehashed stories again though), has praised the club’s style of football
What a nice hot day so far, summer is well and truly here with the season just around the corner. Happy days.
So how is everything Arsenal today? Well nothing much happening apart from a few of our players talking about several things.
Manuel Almunia has given Aaron Ramsay the ultimate praise by comparing him to Cesc Fabregas.
“Aaron is a very good creator of chances, very similar to Fabregas.
“But of course we must remember that he is still very young and he has to learn from people like Cesc, Abou Diaby and the rest of the players that have been here for more time.”
I agree, he does look very much in that mould so I cannot imagine the two of them being put together in the middle of the park in a 4-4-2. Could Wenger risk playing him in a Premier League game? I do not think we will see him in the first team this season apart from the obvious Carling Cup games.
I hate to say it but could Ramsay be bought with the long term view that Cesc Fabregas may leave for Spain one of these days. Not that I want it to happen just playing devils advocate (I don’t think I like that game very much anymore)
New Arsenal signing Samir Nasri who was speaking to French newspaper L’Equipe (seems like rehashed stories again though), has praised the club’s style of football.
“I love the game, I’m passionate and Arsenal’s football culture made me dream,” said Nasri.
“I had a lot of fun watching all their games last season. To me, this culture and the way they play represent what football should be.”
It appears that Nasri will be playing wide after he spoke to the manager about his position in the team.
“The team plays in 4-4-2. I had a chat with Arsene Wenger and I’m going to play on a wing because that is where their playmakers are, splitting with the full backs.”
Interesting way of putting it ‘splitting with the full backs’ It would have been interesting if Rosicky had been fit at the start of the season. I also want to know what Arsene will do with Eboue this year. He was an important player to Wenger last season and was our defensive stability amongst the midfield, even with Flamini present. Will Wenger who is already a ball winner short, leave out Eboue? Does Walcott make our midfield too lightweight?
I suppose answers to these questions depend on which midfield player Arsene brings in.
Does anyone know the latest on the Bischoff situation? I heard/read that he is currently training with us at present although I haven’t seen anything on that. The last I heard was that we were waiting to find out what kind of settlement we would have to fork to Werder Bremen.
Supposed target Andrei Arshavin has shrugged on any suggestions of playing in Italy. His agent is once again his mouth piece.
“Arshavin himself does not want to play in the Italian club, so the question of a transfer to Roma is not urgent,” Lachter told the Russian press.
“None of the English clubs are rushing to offer Andrei a contract.”
It looks as if he is getting priced out at the moment but I am also sure that a lot of clubs are waiting patiently to put pressure on Zenit St Petersburg. Everyone knows that Arshavin wants out and that Zenit will not want an unhappy player on their books. They have put a ridiculous price above his head. 3 years ago, possibly. Now? Not unless you’re Chelsea would you even consider that price for a 27 year old.
Even if the price is halved which is still unlikely would it appear to be a lot of money for a player of that age. Contracts hardly have any security these days and clubs are not willing to waste millions of pounds. Especially well run clubs such as Arsenal.
I am still very interested in the Arshavin story though, probably more so than most. Ronaldinho to Milan was boring, Kaka to Chelsea is stupid. The figures reported turn football into a joke and no longer a sport. Robinho to Chelsea is interesting though.
Have a good day. Drop your view in the comments.
Until tomorrow.
