It’s funny, 2007 season ended and we were pretty disapointed with the 4th place and carling cup final defeat we only managed. On top of that we had our best goalscorer hand in his notice and seek pastures new and the rumour mill was rife with talk of all our star players moving away and with that came a formal “Write Off” from every tabloid, pundit and footballing spokesperson out there. Our odds on winning the league fell to an all time low and even the faithful gooners started to feel uncomfortable.

Now at the end of the 2008 season – which although was an improvement on 2007 was nothing to shout about – We now find ourselves without the likes of star players like Flamini, Hleb and Gilberto, we have the usual rumours linking other players away from the club and with that the usual “Write Offs” from every tabloid, pundit and footballing spokesperson out there, not to mention the odds dropping again….

My point is, im not worried and neither should you be. Wenger is a genius who has changed the teams and always kept a balance that has worked for the premiership and in Europe. In 2007 we lost Henry and Reyes – Did we care months later? In 2008 we’ve lost Hleb and Flamini, will we even remember who they are once Nasri scores more goals than Hleb did in 3 seasons before the end of December? Or will we care about Flamini once we see Wenger unearth another genius in the middle of the park, be it Ramsey, Bischoff, Diaby or Denilson.

Whatever happens – Dont worry, we’re in safe hands.
