The news of former Manchester United player joining Arsenal has caused a mixed reaction from the Gunners supporters

Arsenal have announced the signing of versatile defender Mikael Silvestre from Manchester United.
The story broke in the early hours of Wednesday morning and the deal was completed on Wednesday evening.
The news of former Manchester United player joining Arsenal has caused a mixed reaction from the Gunners supporters. I personally feel that it is a good signing at a good price. He adds strength in depth, cover for two areas in the back four and experience.
Silvestre has spoken to Arsenal about his move.
“I’ve spent a large part of my career at United, the last nine years, and I’ll remember that time fondly but feel I’m ready for a new challenge. Arsenal is known for playing technical and skilful football, and has a young but experienced squad. I’m really excited about this next stage of my career, hopefully playing my part in helping the Club to new successes.”
Arsene Wenger is pleased with his capture.
Arsène Wenger said:
“We have a strong squad but a young squad and Mikael’s versatility, experience and calibre will provide the extra depth we need to reinforce our challenge for honours this season. His defensive adaptability will serve us well and it’s a big plus that Mikael has top level experience and a great understanding of football in the Premier League.”
Silvestre will wear the number 18 shirt and will probably play many FA Cup and Carling cup matches. I am interested to see what now happens to Johan Djourou and Kolo Toure. Will Arsene allow the young Swiss to fend off Toure, Silvestre, Senderos and Song? Or will the new signing slip straight into the first team.
