Denilson’s stats have increased after another good performance. There is still room for improvement but don’t forget that the boy is only 20
Tomas Rosicky, Abou Diaby, Eduardo, Nasri, Silvestre are all missing from this Arsenal team. Players such as Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Amuary Bischoff all coming through to fight for a place amongst the first team.
Lets make no mistake, Arsenal have a squad full of quality. Blackburn, Kiev and Bolton in a row looks like a difficult run of games for any side, so to emerge with 6 Premier League points and a Champions League point which perhaps should have been more can only be described as a positive step in Arsenal’s quest for trophies.
Clearly it is early days at the moment but the team look in very good shape right now.
The performance of Nicolas Bendtner has been talked around many forums and websites and I have to agree with Myles Palmers assessment that Bendtner is the better link player in the squad. Robin Van Persie is the more talented forward who would probably score more goals over the course of the season but Bendtner is the better team player.
Emmanuel Eboue has had a wonderful start of the season and his first half performance was of a different player. His finish for the first was very calm and precise, quite unlike Eboue. If he continues with these performances throughout the season then there will have to be a massive humble pie made for many Gooners.
Denilson’s stats have increased after another good performance. There is still room for improvement but don’t forget that the boy is only 20.
I think Kevin Davies’ tackle on Gael Clichy was an utter disgrace. It had intent, purpose and malice. Yes he played the ball, but it doesn’t mean you can do anything you like with your trailing foot.
Kevin Davies could have broken Clichy’s leg just as Barton could have broken Nasri’s leg. The trouble is, nothing will ever be done about it when you get muppets like Lawrenson and Shearer saying that it was a ‘hard but fair’ tackle with a rather annoying grin on their faces. Prepare yourself for uproar when an Arsenal player does the same to a good old English player.
We have many positives going for us at the moment but you cannot escape from the negatives, well possible negatives. I say possible because we have conceded the least amount of goals so far in the league. Gallas and Toure do not look any stronger this season than they were last season. Simple marking or challenging for headers seems to be missing. Is Toure is problem? Is it Gallas? Is it the pair? It is difficult to say. If Wenger doesn’t change it then we are going to hope that the pair can improve and work together better.
Back to the positives, I was hoping that Theo’s current performances were development and not just form and I think he is showing that it clearly is development. Walcott looked like he was a motor bike driving through the heart of the Bolton defence, leaving 3 or 4 players in his wake. Adebayor has been critised for his final pass but you have to take your hat off and say it was an inch perfect cross to the Brazilian.
Walcott now looks like a key figure in this 2008/2009 team.
I tell you what, I would love to see a match up between this side and the invincible side. It would be a joy to watch. The possession and team play of the current against the individual brilliance from the invincible team.
Looking forward to the Carling cup match on Tuesday, I shall be making my first appearance of the season to the Emirates. It is always nice to watch the slightly unknown as difficult as that is in this day an age with Arsenal TV etc. Hopefully the likes of Wilshere, Vela and Coquelin will be involved.

Until tomorrow.
