YourVision – Critics of Arsenal – Watch Out
My only concerns are the central defensive areas, where Toure & Gallas are currently employed. I personally don’t think they can play together

I’ve got a funny feeling that we will prove a lot of the critics wrong this season & bring home either The Premiership or The Champions League.
Apart from the Fulham game (where we were awful), the team has been functioning very well, espacially against Newcastle. I have been very impressed with Denilson so far (Initially I didn’t think him & Fabregas could play together, due to their similar styles of play, but Wenger has proved me wrong yet again), Almunia’s handling & kicking skills has improved from last season (even though he hardly put a foot wrong in the last campaign), Eboue has shone as a defensive midfielder, Walcott is starting to make more penetrating runs & has been adding goals to his game & Ade & Van Persie are starting to link up nicely as a partnership.
My only concerns are the central defensive areas, where Toure & Gallas are currently employed. I personally don’t think they can play together. Despite only conceding one goal in the Prem, they have looked really shaky together & they are both VERY poor at attacking the first ball. I would prefer Wenger to play either of the following combinations:
Djourou & Gallas (My preferred option)
Djourou & Toure (2nd option)
Silvestre & Gallas
Silvestre & Toure
It is critical that in a central defensive partnership that one person is very good at attacking the first ball (which Djourou is very good at doing. Senderos was also very good at attacking the first ball, when he was here, but sadly he never got a decent run in the team, so we’ve sent him out on loan to AC Milan) & the second defender sweeps up play (which Gallas & Toure prefer to do). If we can sort this area out, I am very confident of us picking up either The Premiership or The Champions League at the end of this campaign.
