Diaby or Nasri? Who will Arsene choose / Pires remains faithful

I personally would like to see Djourou play alongside Silvestre and he probably would have before his injury but Song has the advantage of having 45 minutes alongside Silvestre

There is something special about Champions League matches, I get that same excited feeling during the day, that something to look forward to.

Fenerbahce are next on our list and it is a very difficult game to predict. They have had a pretty poor start to the season so far both domestically and in the Champions League but don’t let it fool ya.. oh no! (da da, dat, dat da, da da da…)

Away to Fenerbahce is always a tricky place to go to, especially because of their intimidating support.

As far as injuries go we will be without Toure, Sagna, Gallas and the obvious couple Rosicky and Eduardo. It is worrying that 3 out of our 4 defenders are out, well probably more worrying that Sagna is out, given the form of Toure and Gallas. It is a chance to see how the likes of Silvestre, Song or Djourou defend under pressure because I assume that we will be under pressure during certain parts of the game.

I personally would like to see Djourou play alongside Silvestre and he probably would have before his injury but Song has the advantage of having 45 minutes alongside Silvestre.

I expect Arsene to revert back to the Champions League template of 4-5-1. The question that we await is which one of Diaby and Nasri will start. Van Persie will probably play on the left where I personally think he is totally wasted and ineffective. Either Nasri will float behind Adebayor the way that Hleb used to but with extra goal threat. Or he will push Fabregas further forward and start Diaby alongside Denilson to add some physical presence. I would like to see 4-4-1-1 with Nasri wide left and Van Persie behind Adebayor but Wenger will not be as adventurous as that.

I deleted everything from my laptop, including photoshop so I cannot include any Arsenal player heads in a line up, I’ll install it again when I go home tonight.

Robert Pires has been speaking very highly of his former side.

“Arsenal’s young players are like fruits that have ripened,” Pires told setantasports.com. “I feel like they matured, grew up and when I watch them, I see a lot of allure.

“Something is for sure – they are going to win the league this season. But I did not say they are going to win the Champions League, because we at Villarreal are going to do so.

“To finish, I would say ‘Come on Arsenal’.”

I assume these are new quotes. as Pires spoke highly about our chances a few weeks ago when his side faced Manchester United. You have to love Bobby Pires don’t you? Great player and great man. We are lucky to have had him at our club and could be luckier to have Nasri. At 21 years old he has so much room for improvement and development that the potential is quite frightening.

Wanted to write about Wenger and Spurs again, enjoying them right now but I really do not have the time at the moment. Enjoy the game today where ever you are watching it.
