Seconds to go Cesc Fabregas has the ball and I am screaming keep the ball at the screen and he launches another Hollywood pass that once again does not find its target and Tottenham are back in possession
Football can be so cruel, so painful and so emotionally draining.
I couldn’t speak when Lennon scored, I was in total shock.
My attempts to block out the dull aching feeling was to no avail as waves of ‘for fucks sake!’ kept flowing out of my mouth.
I thought a day later I would be able to digest it a little more and relay my thoughts on this blog but the truth is my anger and frustration has blocked my ability to waffle.
Win lose or draw I like to listen to Arsene’s post match interview and I like to read what others think of the game but this time I cannot manage to do that, even the next day. I have not read anything about the game. I will have to now so I can copy his quotes.
There is not much I will say at this point but I am sure I will in the next few days, but one thing I do want to ask is why doesn’t the best Premier League team at keeping the ball just keep the ball at 4-3?
That was worse than Clichy’s slip, worse than Almunia’s fumbled hands.
Seconds to go Cesc Fabregas has the ball and I am screaming keep the ball at the screen and he launches another Hollywood pass that once again does not find its target and Tottenham are back in possession. With that possession they equalise. Why risk that? Cesc is intelligent to know that you do not hand the ball back to Tottenham. That is just football suicide.
Another issue I have is why didn’t the team press the ball when they were not in possession? Tottenham did a fantastic job in the first half of not letting us settle on the ball and it worked. When they had the ball they had the freedom of north London to do whatever they wanted. I remember a run from Modric in the first half from his own half where is was not once challenged. It got slightly better in the second half at times but nowhere near enough. Why does this have to be asked of this team? Shouldn’t tracking back, high work rate and pressing the ball be on every team tactics sheet every week, if we even have that.
A not very happy Arsene Wenger spoke after the game.
Wenger said:
“I believe that we wanted to win the game and were absolutely, certainly two levels above Tottenham today, but in the end we don’t get the points.
“We played too cautious. They were there for the taking and instead of scoring five or six we had a negative passing game, just by keeping possession. Then you expose yourself and in football you always have to try to go forward.
“The team has outstanding potential but they are maturing and need to be guided in the decisive moments. They will learn from moments like tonight.
“We have to look at ourselves and improve on that. I believe and I am very positive about the team because they will learn and are very intelligent, but of course they are very down tonight.”
I do not agree with Arsene there. It was the fact that we tried to score a 5th when we were 4-3 up that cost us the game but I don’t need to go into that again. Infact, I am going to cry in a pillow somewhere, smash some plates, make some *prank phone calls and swear at random people on the phone
Squid Boy has written a great match review so click that link to read. A very annoyed and upset Gooner has to go, but will be back tomorrow if hasn’t taken his own life. Try and avoid Tottenham supporters and attempt to enjoy your day.

* Prank phone calls is not cool, it is something that people shouldn’t do as it can cause stress to people and should not be tolerated unless it is to terrorise Tottenham supporters of course.
