My feeling and attitude towards this side has changed now. I do not want to hear that this is a young team and they will learn
Hello Gooners,
Long time no speak, it has been quite a few days since I last wrote something. My partner had our third baby Mini Mean Lean-ett during the early hours of Saturday morning, so I missed the dross that was the Aston Villa Performance. I was about to say that it seems that I always miss the really bad games (Fulham & Villa) but then I realised that I watched the Stoke, Hull City and Sunderland matches. It kind of shows how bad we have become.
From what I have read it appears that this big shot squad couldn’t be arsed to fight for a victory again, it appears that they wanted to turn up and take the 3 points after a few fancy back heals an 175 passes outside their penalty area before walking the ball into the net.
My feeling and attitude towards this side has changed now. I do not want to hear that this is a young team and they will learn. I do not want to hear that they ‘lacked a little bit sharpness’ Like Gunnerblog said, what on earth does that mean?
The players had their little bit sharpness against Manchester United because they wanted it but now it is lacking.
All the players keep saying to the press that they know what they have to do, they have to fight for the 3 points blah blah blah. It makes me sick.
Many people will know that I backed the team before the season and even after a few ‘slip ups’ I stupidly thought that the talent the squad had was enough because basic fundamentals like team work, hard work, commitment and a will to win was at every Premier League team, wasn’t it?
The players are surely not stupid enough to not give their all for maximum 2 games in a week after being paid every week more than most people earn in a year.
I have now come to the conclusion.
Why should I support this 2008/2009 team?
Why should I suffer the pain I feel after defeats when the players look like they couldn’t give two shits about the game.
The players should be closing teams down, flying into tackles and sweating buckets every game to make sure they claim the three points. We won’t win every game that way, we will have off days but you can accept that when a player gives his all. Ray Parlour wasn’t the most technical player, not the easiest on the eye but the guy had so much energy and passion. How we could do with someone like that now.
I love the Carling Cup side, like all Gooners do. Are they as talented as the first team? No, probably not. It is hard to beat the ability of the likes of Cesc, Van Persie, Nasri, Clichy etc but what they give is fight. They play with a high tempo and desire to win the ball back and that is first and foremost the rest is down to technique. 9 goals in two games show that technique.
I am not saying that they would win anything (apart from the Carling Cup I so so hope!) but I could support a side who cares.
Arsene expects this side to learn from their own mistakes and use their intelligence to turn things around. Obviously they are lacking intelligence if this situation is still happening week after week.
I personally would like to see some of the British kids drafted into the team as they give the impression that they try to win. I am not for one moment suggesting that nationality is the reason why we are suffering but when you watch Ramsey and Wilshere play you notice the commitment straight away. Wilshere as we all know is only 16 years old and his first contribution to the Wigan game was to fly into a tackle with the opposition. Ramsey’s first contribution to the Fenerbache game was to win the ball on the right.
Ok, they are too young for a long run in the side, Wilshere is still just a kid, and Ramsey is in the year above but I want to see that kind of fight from all our players which includes Cesc Fabregas.
I love this club, have done since I was a kid and will always love the club. But if this attitude continues then I will be routing for the Carling cup and the Carling cup only.
I will not be writing everyday for a little while, not sure when or how much as yet. Got plenty on my plate right now but will write when I can. Keep reading the Your Vision’s and obviously keep sending stuff in, it is nice to get a different opinon even if I do not always agree with them. Have yourself a nice day and I look forward to our next game against Burnley!
