I must say I am quite excited about the January transfer window, I don’t know why because it is a window that Wenger doesn’t generally like to shop in but something tells me that he has a few bits and bobs lined up
Good afternoon Gooners,
There was an incident yesterday which prevented me from writing anything, it was quite serious I must say. I was beaten, hurt and made to feel quite unhappy. It isn’t something I really wanted to share with readers but it is only fair that I tell you the events of yesterday just to make others aware.
I was grabbed early hours of yesterday morning, kicked, elbow dropped and head locked by the dreaded throat infection. I was swung around and thrown back into bed for most of yesterday. As I say, I am truly ashamed of this so all I can say to you is be careful. If you see someone coughing and spluttering on the train then run, do not stand and fight just run for your lives.
Thank you for letting me get that off my chest.
So there has been change in the Arsenal boardroom while I have been away, Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith has left the Arsenal hierarchy and her 15.9% stake will be watched by many. It is unclear as to the reason for her apparent sudden departure unless I have missed it. We are in limbo as to what she will do with her shares and you can imagine a certain Mr Usmanov will be licking his lips at the prospect of taking them off her hands.
Peter Hill-Wood was a little reassuring when he said that Bracewell-Smith was in full agreement with how the club should go so hopefully she will not sell to others who do not have the club’s interests at heart.
I know that Lady Nina is an advocate of the policies we have been following to make the club self-sustaining and free from external injections of money. She has certainly been in favour of what we are doing. We hope that she would remain a shareholder, but she has not spoken to me about it lately. She is no longer in the lockdown so she is free to do what she wishes to do.
I am sure we will hear more on this over the coming weeks.
So Eduardo made his comeback and is now crocked again for a few weeks due to a hamstring, you have to worry about him. Not worry about him exactly but worry what could happen. Abou Diaby suffered a terrible ankle injury against Sunderland and has been extremely injury prone since his return. I just hope that Eduardo is made of pure Brazilian steel and will not suffer the same post injury problems that his French colleague has had to face.
We only witnessed 45 minutes of Eduardo but what I remembered about him was his fantastic movement. Movement that we do not have anywhere else in squad. He just knows exactly when to pull off the defender and make that run into space. I am looking forward to having a full fit Eduardo for Arsene to select.
Lassana Diarra looks set to make a big money move to Read Madrid, which is a move that will really suit him. There may well be questions about his character and personality but you cannot deny his ability. I still think he would have been most of the answers to the questions that we are asking today. I don’t want to be dragged back into the past as it is now history. It appears that we put a clause on the player so that should generate some extra cash to go into the kitty.
The Gallas away from Arsenal story is yet to die down and you have to wonder if it will. I am not sure if any reporters have asked Wenger about this and would be interested to know what his answer would be.
I must say I am quite excited about the January transfer window, I don’t know why because it is a window that Wenger doesn’t generally like to shop in but something tells me that he has a few bits and bobs lined up here and there. Nothing John Major but a couple players to add to the squad. Probably still youngish players but ones that can make an impact.
I think I will make a AV Chat (video podcast) for the transfer window closure on December 31st, thought it might be a little different. The AV Chat section hasn’t worked for some time as many of you have pointed out to me several times. If I cannot get it working by then, then I will just use an embeded YouTube clip instead.
If anyone knows any php and could help then please get in touch.
I suppose on that note I shall make like a ball, enjoy your day.
