Wenger may not trust Nasri’s defensive contributions in that position from the start, especially in games such as Everton away who will be physical in midfield
Another day and another ramblings from myself. Today is Tuesday, I have been getting excited about Tuesday since last week. You must know why… yep, you’ve guessed it, I am playing football in the evening at Clapham Junction. What else where you thinking about?
I suppose you want to hear about Arshavin don’t you? I just want to hear that he has signed or he hasn’t. But today is the day that something was supposed to happen according to the very quiet agent who never has anything to say for himself.
The press ran a story suggesting that money bags Manchester City have turned their attentions to the Russian playmaker after losing out on Kaka. Hopefully it is just a case of the press being typically bad at maths and putting 2 + 2 together and getting 4, or is it 5? My maths needs some work also.
If he does sign in the next 48 hours or so then he could be available to play in the FA Cup clash against Cardiff which might be good for him because he would be likely to get more minutes than he would do in a Premier League game. If he does sign then I do not expect Arsene to chuck him straight into the deep end even if we are currently short on players. Unless of course he beats 7 players and smashes it into the top corner every training session.
I am contradicting myself somewhat now, I said I don’t want to talk about him but I have changed my mind. I am intrigued to know what Arsene’s plans are for this new creative player that he wants to bring in.
Many of supporters assume that Arsene wants to bring Nasri into central midfield and play Arshavin on the left, it may not be as straight forward as that.
Wenger may not trust Nasri’s defensive contributions in that position from the start, especially in games such as Everton away who will be physical in midfield.
Does the manager want to replace Eboue on the right? But what would that do to the defensive capabilities of the team? I am also surprised that the press haven’t told us all what Arsene’s back up choices are in case the Arshavin deal falls through.
Not that they actually know who the back up choices are, they never actually know but they usually like to tell us what they think.
If he does have other targets then there is a good chance that he would have spoken to club and player. Wenger has said that he is looking for special player to add to the squad so his shortlist is probably pretty short at the moment.
Have you noticed on newsnow they have about, roughly 7,321 (rounded down) articles on the same thing?
Arshavin set for Gunners
Arsenal set to sign Arshavin
Arsene close to Arshavin swoop
Arsenal set towards Russian signing
And this is all from one website! How many times do we have to hear it? Sorry, just grates on me somewhat.
Onto something new.
I wonder how highly Wenger rates Carlos Vela, compared to someone like Emmanuel Adebayor. In this stage of their careers they are both different animals but I wonder if Wenger will make a radical change for next season. I am a fan of big Ade, especially when he does what he does best but he is not a typical Arsene player. Would Arsene adapt his team to accommodate a quick striker with great movement and fantastic finishing instead of the power and ariel prowess of Adebayor. Ade has signed a new contract so I could be talking old balls but we have many forwards who will be pushing Adebayor should his form not get back to what it was last season. As I said, I am not knocking Ade and I defended him to the hill last year but I just wonder.
I sure have asked a lot of questions today. probably because there is not much news floating round so I am subconsciously craving Arsenal information.
If only I put as much into studying as a kid I could be rich today, ah well, such is life I guess.
Ok, before I bore you to tears I better be off. Oh apologies for the slow response in the comments section, I do not always get the chance to respond until later, but I usually do eventually.
Back Tomorrow.
