The North London derby is the name of the football local derby between two North London based teams – Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Both Arsenal and Tottenham (often referred to by their nickname, Spurs) fans have recognized each other as rivals despite the fact that, until recently, they rarely competed in the same area on the table. Arsenal traditionally has been a top 4 team while Spurs had been competing for mid table. With Spurs’ recent success, they have vaulted themselves to the top 6 and, in 2010, they qualified for the UEFA Champions League by placing within the top 4. Since, they have competed with Arsenal for Champions League places.
