In terms of his situation at Real Madrid, Benzema’s is certainly a sticky one. He’s played 10 games in the League and has 4 goals and 4 assists to go with it, so what’s the problem? Footballers are human beings and despite making his best start since joining Madrid, the fans have still got issues with him. Despite work rate and other false pretences cited, a familiar tale of no amount of talent will ever be equal to being Spanish. With even Mesut Ozil revealing after he left “In Madrid, only the Spanish are valued. In 3 years there, they never chanted my name. In Isco’s first game, they chanted for him.” With his own manager un willing to give him a public vote of confidence being quoted as saying “It’s not a problem That the fans are booing him (Benzema) . Sometimes boos

Much maligned in the media last year for his lack of goal scoring exploits, Olivier Giroud has finally hit top gear in an Arsenal shirt. With 7 goals & 6 assists to his name already in only 12 games Giroud keeps up the trend of firing on all cylinders in his second season of a club, with Grenoble the only exception, whatever Giroud scored in his first season at a club, the next season he has managed to add a minimum of 10. Despite Giroud’s rich vein of form however, the fact of the matter is Arsenal are still short up front. Niklas Bendtner had a deadline day move cancelled to make up the numbers and with Lukas Podolski & Theo Walcott injured, it’s not entirely illogical that Wenger might foray into the market for a striker and with the prospect of playing behind one of the best midfields in the world there isn’t many that would say no to that.
With Arsene Wenger recently commenting that he wasn’t “out to replace him” it’s difficult to find a player that is good enough to keep Giroud on his toes and be able to play when a different approach will suit us better in a game. Despite the whacky prices in football floating about these days a perfect situation seems to have arisen for Arsenal and with reports of Karim Benzema being available in January, it might not be too farfetched to think that two first team players from Real Madrid will have made a switch to Arsenal this season.
Sometimes boos can help motivate the player”, Benzema’s feeling rather isolated despite playing a lot of games, sometimes just a change of scenery and a positive outlay on life can be all a footballer is looking for.
It would seem illogical that Madrid are to sell their only striker with pedigree however and rely on the novice likes of Jesé Rodríguez & Álvaro Morata, both of whom are Spanish ironically, it seems almost certain that Real Madrid will bring in another striker in January and with the frivolity of their earlier spending, it’s more than likely that Benzema would be on his way out. The most viable option and clear cut option would be Luis Suarez who not only has made his desire to join Real Madrid public but also the further backing of Edison Cavani who hinted recently that the reason Suarez didn’t force through a move for Arsenal is because his heart is set on Real Madrid. With Liverpool not participating in any European football this season, should Suarez move to Madrid in January he would be eligible to play in all competitions for them.
Karim Benzema tactically can be quite similar to Giroud, despite playing up front for the most of his career Karin Benzema is actually more of a number ten which would explain his inherent sense to collect the ball from deep and play passes with his team mates. Hence Benzema would fit into the Arsenal squad rather well and despite his underlying need to play passes Benzema is actually quite the striker when asked to play a hanging role just off the last defender and to finish off any chances that come his way making him an asset to any counter attacking side.
With Wenger backing Giroud in public on numerous occasions, it would seem rather silly for him to go against his word and sign a striker of Karim Benzema’s stature, however both Benzema and Giroud fight for a single top slot position for their national team with Giroud mostly winning that battle and despite Karim Benzema sitting on the bench for a while, it has brought out the best in both of them. Giroud is starting to lose his obsession with goals and comparisons with former players and is starting to understand his role in a team and what he brings to a team up front apart from his goal scoring abilities. It’s also been good for Benzema who’s realised that his career has stagnated a bit, a consistent performer for Real Madrid however people want to be appreciated and remembered with fondness and with no love or challenges for Benzema at Madrid, surely the time has come for him to leave? And if the only striking position in the French national team isn’t won on merit, then it certainly isn’t at Arsenal.
