Everton thoughts and predictions

I always think that Emmanuel Adebayor is the player who can score in these types of games. 1 goal in the last 5 games is not the return that he would want at this part of the season but we know he is capable of a good run of goalscoring form

As fixtures go Everton away is one of the hardest of the season, you know you will be in for a game when you play Everton, especially in front of the Everton support. You do not expect to be carved apart by quick one touch attacking football but you know you will be closed down and physically challenged, you also know that when you have the ball you will be confronted by a very well drilled and organised side who are currently full of confidence right now.

Last season we had that bit extra to win the game when it was tight, this time round Eduardo is not available to make goals from nothing but we will be looking towards Robin Van Persie to conjurer up something special in the final third that will make the difference.

I always think that Emmanuel Adebayor is the player who can score in these types of games. 1 goal in the last 5 games is not the return that he would want at this part of the season but we know he is capable of a good run of goalscoring form. Infact Van Persie only has 2 from his last 5 so our forward line will want to get back to doing what they do best.

It is important that the likes of Diaby, Nasri and Denilson support the forwards but they also have to be disciplined enough to not get caught out and let Everton dominate in that area as it is their strongest part of the pitch.

I cannot imagine us being able to play our best football so if we are to win then this could be a game where we have to grind out.

David Moyes has spoken highly of the Arsenal team ahead of tonights clash.

He said: “I think people think that [they are in decline] because you normally see Arsenal in the top one or two and right on the tails of the top teams. I think people are thinking they are not as close as they were in the past.

“But I think Arsene Wenger is still thinking about winning the Premier League and he thinks they still have a chance so it is still a very strong Arsenal team.

“They have talented individuals and we don’t need to remind our players of that and how good Arsenal can be.

“On their day and given time and space they can be very fluent and open you up.”

David Moyes will set Everton up to disrupt our football and they will try and punish us on set pieces. I expect Wenger to combat this by including some physically big players such as Adebayor, Song and Diaby.

Song and Diaby played well together in the second half against Cardiff which could push the fresh Denilson on the right of midfield with Eboue rested.

I am interested in the Toure or Gallas decision. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Gallas return ahead of Toure which wouldn’t be positive for Kolo. Djourou and Toure have done a good job in Gallas absence but Wenger has his seniors and Gallas is certainly one of them.

Mean Lean’s Match Predictions

Everton 0 Arsenal 1 (Adebayor)

It is going to be a tough game with not many goals in it. I am hoping Adebayor makes up for his miss at Cardiff.
