Squad taking shape as Eduardo returns

With a date set on Rosicky’s return to the squad, and the kids doing themselves no harm, the squad looks in good shape

Good morning to you all,

Not much to talk about this morning, I have looked high and low for news that I could talk about, but it is still more Carling cup stuff which we have gone over until we are blue in the face.

Speaking of being blue, The French have called up all of our squad, ok perhaps not all but a nice chunk of our team have been selected. Silvestre is the surprise out of the group. The Gunners back four are all included along with goalscoring hero Sami Nasri. Abou Diaby must be feeling a little left out as he has been in fine form since his return from injury.

Nicklas Bendtner is positive about being the leading man in the Arsenal attack.

“They aren’t involved at the moment but whether they are fit or not doesn’t change my mentality,” he said.

“If the manager picks me I will always do whatever I can. I love the pressure – you could say I prefer it and thrive on it.

“I love it when people are thinking that this is the guy who needs to score or create something today if we are to win.

“That’s how I set myself up for every game.

“It’s good if people have big expectations for you. If people are expecting things from me, than I’m happy to take it.”

I think Bendtner is due a goal and he should lead the attack once again against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Clearly playing upfront on his own isn’t his strong point but he did put in a lot of hard work against Manchester United. It would be nice to see Carlos Vela playing further ahead of Bendtner tomorrow but Arsene would be mad to drop the 4-4-1-1 that worked so well last weekend.

Interestingly Emmanuel Adebayor has a chance to feature on Saturday which is a bit of a shock. I assumed that his ankle injury would keep him out for a 3 weeks or so but Wenger has rated him 50:50 for the game.

It appears that Eduardo is back in full training with the squad which is great news, it will be quite a few weeks until we see him play again, probably some reserve team matches and then a place on the subs bench.

With a date set on Rosicky’s return to the squad, and the kids doing themselves no harm, the squad looks in good shape.

I hope we can get a run of matches with a full fit squad, that will increase our chances of making steps up the league. The previous week has been fantastic and it is a great platform for the squad to build on. We cannot afford any Fulham, Hull, Stoke backwards steps. Arsene’s mantra from now on should be consistency, progress, and hard work.

The Villa game will be interesting. Ashley Young who I rate is doing very well along with speedy Gabriel Agbonlahor. It is the Norwegian John Carew that is the concern to the Arsenal back four. Carew is a powerful striker who is good in the air and enjoys the physical game. It will be interesting to see how Silvestre and Gallas deal with him. I will preview the game tomorrow.

Enjoy your lunch and your day.
