My worry is that we as human beings have some obsession with laughing at someone else’s misfortune, in this case laughter is replaced with venting negativity
Good afternoon Gooners,
It has been quite an emotional few days of our Arsenal lives hasn’t it? Many divided opinions which is usual but what I hope is right or wrong we can put this behind us and continue to support our side that we all love so much. We all want the team to do well, to be successful. We also know that booing is the most counter productive thing that you can do, so it has to stop.
My worry is that we as human beings have some obsession with laughing at someone else’s misfortune, in this case laughter is replaced with venting negativity and there will be many fans who will go to our next home game with the intension of booing Eboue and have some strange excitement about doing it. One thing is for certain is that no supporters will be going to do that.
If ‘fans’ are expecting to force Arsene Wenger into dropping him or selling him then putting it politely you are insane. A professional like Wenger would never make a decision based on the opinions of a few football manager owning, narrow minded, destructive fans.
Emmanel Eboue will get a good reception from the away supporters as there will naturally be less Arsenal fans travelling to Porto.
One more point on Eboue before I get off this subject for a little while is that many people have slated Wenger for bringing him on the left but if you look back at the games so far this season when Eboue has played, his best games have come from the left wing. He produced a man of the match performance against Bolton away when he scored, he looked more direct from that side. It appears that people do not realise the importance of match fitness, Eboue hasn’t played for 6 weeks, that is a long time to be thrown into Premier League football. Give me any world class player in the world and sit him out for 6 weeks and then throw him into a quick paced Premier league match and see how he performs.
I am not Emmanuel Eboue’s greatest fan, there probably aren’t a huge amounts of those around for several reasons but when he is playing well he does a very good job and is just a player who needs to work in certain other areas, like most players in world football. If Manchester United were pegged back for long periods by a good attacking side then you could expect Ronaldo to be slated by his own fans for not defending very well.
Remember that like him or not, Eboue is a young Arsenal player who is trying to improve and get better for the benefit of OUR OWN CLUB.
Ahhh feel better getting that off my chest. Now to something else.
Emmanuel has been talking but this time it is Adebayor (another huge Arsenal favourite of course) he wants Arsenal to forget about style and concentrate on winning.
“We are eight points behind first place and now we just have to control ourselves, not to worry about whether we play with elegance or not,” he said.
“The most important thing is not the way we play, it is what we are going to achieve.
“Now we have to forget about how we are going to dribble, how many passes we are going to make – the most important thing is to get the ball in the back of the net and that is it.”
Here here Mr Adebayor. I would personally like to see Adebayor stay central and concentrate on causing the central defenders problems instead of the full backs. I seem to remember him staying in the middle during his good goal scoring run last season. It is positive that we have two forwards both scoring goals, they seem to take it in turns to find the net which is a good thing.
The Tomas Rosicky fiasco has made me a sad sad man. I have been itching for his return, expecting it to come anytime soon after Eduardo and we have been hit with yet another blow. We are losing such a massive player from our squad. not just our squad but from the team. He improves others, helps our back four, helps our attack and links everything together. I really hope he comes back and stays back.
Imagine if Pires came to Arsenal and the same thing happened to him, we would not be blessed with the great memories that he gave us. Imagine if Bergkamp suffered a broken leg in the 98 season.
Careers are short so this period for Rosicky is just awful.
I am going to expect him to be ruled out for the season, anything else would be a bonus. It is such a shame really.
So the team play for 1st or 2nd place tomorrow against Porto. I first thought that we would see a mixed team, some young players some senior but now I think Wenger will want to keep the wins coming, he will not want the side to lose at a time where confidence is fragile. I will go into the game tomorrow I guess.
In the mean time you guys and girls have a good day.
