I remember Arshavin talking about Arsenal’s style of play when we were linked to him in the summer so I am a little unsure if these are new quotes or maybe I am just being a little over skeptical
Welcome to your daily dose of Arshavin news. I have some very exciting news about the man we all support. Well yesterday he chose to wear white y fronts instead of his usual purple pair that his auntie bought him in 2006.
A source close to the player said ‘He just fancied a change as the others were feeling a little uncomfortable’
In other Arshavin related news, the player had something to say about Arsenal Football Club.
“In some games last season, we played football which was very similar to that of Arsenal,” said Arshavin, who also appears well aware that his favoured No 10 shirt is already taken by William Gallas. He added: “I would prefer my present No 10 but in the team where I hope to move it’s not vacant. So I’m ready for any number they are going to offer me.”
I remember Arshavin talking about Arsenal’s style of play when we were linked to him in the summer so I am a little unsure if these are new quotes or maybe I am just being a little over skeptical. As for the number 10 shirt, if he was to sign then I think Gallas should do the decent thing and hand over the shirt. These days shirt numbers do not mean as much as they used to but I am still old school when it comes to numbers and positions. I still feel a little uncomfortable that William wears Bergkamp’s old magic number. Nothing against Gallas of course, I just feel that a creative player i.e. Merson, Bergkamp etc should be that number. William should really be wearing the number 6, but hey. Rumour has it that Arshavin will wear the number 23 should he sign.
Anyway, we shall be talking about what day time television Arshavin will be watching tomorrow, make sure you tune in.
Lets continue with the transfer theme shall we. I have a list of today’s completely fabricated by pointless websites Transfers Rumours.
Martins (Newcastle)
Sebastian Battaglia (Boca Juniors)
Don’t worry the day is still young, there shall be many more plucked from thin air. I find it amazing how Arsenal do their transfers behind closed doors and away from the media, yet these sites manage to find out these targets. Great work I say.
Getting away from the fictions and back to what is hopefully facts. I forgot to mention it yesterday, but it was great to hear that Tomas Rosicky isn’t finished just yet. I cannot imagine that he will play again this season but I hope that he will be ready for next season. I know I keep mentioning him on this site but I am one of his biggest fans and will personally shed a tear (manly one of course) when he jogs onto that Ashburton Grove pitch again.
We are lacking creativity right now but imagine if ALL goes well. We could choose a midfield combination of Rosicky, Nasri, Arshavin, Cesc and Denilson. How exciting is that? If we had to play a 5 man midfield then I would not expect the opposition to have the ball.
That is what I hope is the future. Right now, things are slightly different in terms of personnel but results have been positive of late. Our third straight victory, unbeaten in 7. Eduardo on his way back along with flyer Theo Walcott. I do not believe that this team will go the whole season without a run of consistency, and I believe that it is on its way.
I do feel that we need some sparkling performances for the good of the team. I am not sure that victories are enough to give this team confidence, its football. This team thrive on playing quality football and the sooner than comes the better for the whole squad.
Cesc Fabregas is going football celibate as he recovers from his injury.
“I am not really thinking about football, watching games, following the transfer market, nothing,” he said in the club’s matchday programme. “I am just forgetting about everything to do with football.
“Even my girlfriend is surprised, because it is unusual for me. But to be honest when it comes to football at the moment, I am off it until I can start to get fit again.
“It is the most difficult part of being injured, not being able to get out there and touch the ball and be there with your team-mates. It is a bit painful, but I know I must accept it.
“All players will go through times like this in their career, and now is my moment to experience it.
“I will just have to stay as positive as I can until I am back playing again. I want to relax as much as possible and I am sure I will come back stronger.
“There are still a few more weeks of resting and it’s difficult because I cannot really do anything at the moment.
“So it’s a good time to go away on holiday, make the most of it, and hopefully it will help to pass the time quicker. I just want these next few weeks to go as quickly as possible so I can start to get fit again.
“But I am in really, really good hands. I am seeing a doctor in Barcelona who is the best in Europe for treating knee injuries, and at Arsenal we have Colin Lewin who is a great physio, so I’m not worried about it.”
It is a little weird, given the fact that he is club captain but you have to understand the frustration for any player to miss a large chunk of a season, it must be very difficult to watch when you cannot step onto the pitch.
We wish you well, and hope you come back fit and refreshed. Speaking of refreshed, I am off to grab a cuppa.
Enjoy your day, back tomorrow.
