I enjoyed watching his movement and finishing as a striker. I am still to be convinced that he is a wide player, especially not a typical Arsenal wide player
Anyone bored of the Arshavin show yet? Yep, so I am.
The latest is that his agent has told us all that the show will be extended to another series. Thats right folks, we will not hear the end of this until next week according to Dennis Lachter.
Dennis Lachter said:
“It looks like nothing will happen this week now, but there may be some movement early next week.”
I assume that we are still the front runners but it would be crazy to think that we could be the only club interested in the player. Rumours that Inter Milan are interested are just rumours, we also do not know if there is any truth in the Manchester City bid so I guess like always.. just wait and see.
Our Mexican magic man, Carlos Vela has been making an impact from the bench for the last couple of weeks now and has been doing a fine job in turning matches our way. His team mate Robin Van Persie has been speaking to Arsenal TV about the qualities Vela brings to the table.
Van Persie said:
“He brings pace, good technique and courage,” said the Dutchman. “I think [against Bolton] and in the last couple of weeks, he has been doing really well.
“In training, he is doing the good stuff. He creates space for us because when he is on the ball, he can pass it short, in behind the strikers. So it’s all good stuff from him now.”
haha doing the good stuff, I like that.
I like the look of Carlos, very intelligent player. I said this previously but I enjoyed him more in Carling Cup matches, basically I enjoyed watching his movement and finishing as a striker. I am still to be convinced that he is a wide player, especially not a typical Arsenal wide player.
Robin Van Persie is wasted on the left wing when he has played there and looks a tad one dimensional on that side, I feel even with Vela’s pace he too looks one dimensional from that side. He doesn’t appear to have the ability to beat defenders on the inside as someone like Nasri can do. Walcott also suffers from that problem but has addressed that a bit more so far this season. Perhaps this is Wenger’s reasoning for adopting him in wide areas at the moment.
Speaking of wide areas, I was watching Arsenal TV last night and started watching the women’s team. I have watched bits and pieces of the Arsenal ladies and know the more established players such as Kelly Smith and Rachel Yankey but to be honest, I know very little about the rest of them.
The ladies thrashed Colchester 7-0 and overall it was a good display but I was instantly impressed by one individual.
Gemma Davison played on the right wing and has fantastic quick feet. She must have contributed to most of the goals but beating at least one or two players then playing the final ball. Some of her skill including a drag back and flick past her marker was breathtaking. We know that the Arsenal ladies are at least a level up from most of their opposition but she looks a real talent.
I may have to make a conscious effort to watch more ladies football from now on, me thinks. Anyone for giving her a black haired wig and sticking Rosicky 7 on her back until he comes back? ok, maybe not but it’s a thought. I don’t see you give any ideas!
According to the tabloids, Eduardo played a game for the reserves against the first team and scored a hat trick. I don’t know how true this is or any details about it but its great that Eduardo is building up his fitness. Scoring a hat trick in a behind closed doors friendly against team mates doesn’t really mean very much but what is important, is that he regains his confidence, fitness and match sharpness.
Eduardo has said himself that he is currently concentrating on his fitness which is the smart thing to do.
Eddie said:
“If you score a goal you’re on top, if you don’t you’re at the bottom. Even the very best strikers in the world might score two goals in a game and then not score for another three or four games, and that’s how it works.
“But my only concerns are my fitness and how I’m going to help Arsenal. And if I happen to score a goal, it will be just as it always was.”
Did some of you guys watch Dennis Bergkamp on Arsenal TV last night? We have all watched or read that he could come back into coaching at some point and that would be great, although I am not sure how much Dennis will help on our set pieces. Perhaps he can teach Toure to jump towards the ball and duck when it reaches his head. Still unsure of why Dennis did that for so long.
Anyway, I was watching it and actually felt quite emotional about how we enjoyed his stay here. Every touch, every through ball, every dip inside and bend toward the far top corner. A simply wonderful player.
They showed THAT goal against Newcastle. How did he come up with that? Just pure and utter genius.
Right, I am welling up now *sniff* so I will have to go and sob quietly to myself. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the day.
Remember, supporting Arsenal is a full time job. COME ON YOU GUNNERS!
