The transfer rumour fireworks begin

Adebayor is the only big striker in world football right now. However, it is very possible that Adebayor could be the man set to join the Italians

The close season is very much with us now with a bunch of stories and rumours just bursting out all over the place like it had been simmering until the lid flew off.

This isn’t just one way you know? No sir-ree Bob we have players leaving, players in talks and players on the way. What a feast.

Ok, lets start with Ajax central defender Thomas Vermaelen. Apparently Arsenal and Ajax are in talks about a transfer. Apparently Arsenal have come in with a bid that is far too low which sounds very Arsenal like. The first place I read this was from Sport.co.uk, a site I usually avoid as they usually just copy tabloid rubbish so the sceptic in me is talking loudly. I know very little about him so cannot comment much on him. I do know that he is roughly 5.11 which has already caused a sigh in some quarters. We shall wait and see what happens there.

Emmanuel Eboue has been given some column inches due to his comments about his future at the club.

Eboue said:

‘My future at Arsenal is not clear yet, I did not play a lot in the season and the World Cup is coming. There are many clubs interested in me, so let’s wait. Before the season’s start I will make a decision.’

Eboue has recently signed a new contract to stay at the club so these quotes would be a little surprising but you could understand that he would like more first team football. Ever since we have had our offensive players back in the squad he has featured less and less as the games went on.

I still find it strange how you hear fans saying we will never win anything with players like Eboue when it is as clear as day that Eboue has a list of players to leap ahead of if he is to play regular football. Almost as if we are expected to have world class wide players 4th choice.

I hope he stays and remains a part of our squad because he is versatile and physically impressive. He can improve his end product with hard work and is a good option from the bench when you are winning football matches.

Eboue’s namesake Adebayor is back in the media spotlight. Kaka is set to leave Milan for either Madrid or Chelsea (hopefully the former) and Milan general manager Adriano Galliani claims that Milan will bring in a big striker.

Galliani said:

“I want to put them at ease. We are not reshaping,”

“It will not be that we sell Kaka and don’t sign anybody. Should Kaka leave, we will bring in a big striker.”

Not quite sure why that means that Adebayor is going there. Perhaps Adebayor is the only big striker in world football right now. However, it is very possible that Adebayor could be the man set to join the Italians. Clearly not all is well with the whole Fans –> Wenger –> Adebayor –> Beyonce –> Bootylicious –> fans roundabout.

Adebayor’s strike partner Nicklas Bendtner has yet again demonstrated more self confidence when describing his path over the next few years.

In about three years, I will be better than Zlatan, He is older than me and has now reached his peak as the top scorer in Serie A, but I have a plan, I believe in it and I am ready.

“Next season, I can finally make my breakthrough and then I still have two years to become better than Zlatan – and I will.

“By then I will be close to my peak and will be able to look upon myself as one of the world’s greatest strikers.”

Not quite sure what the question was and why he was being compared to Ibrahimovic, but having that self belief can only do him good, like I said in a previous post, his strike rate was better than Van Persie who was our top scorer last season.

Right that is the transfer round up over for now, you can be sure that we will have another long list to go through *sigh* I really do not want to go through this all summer.

Back tomorrow.
