Melo was set to walk out the doors with Arsene Wenger but just then a fully armoured white and black striped car skidded around the corner. In came the big men with a gold briefcase with £18 million pounds cash inside

So far so bloody good. Robin Van Persie is next in line to commit his future to the club by signing a new long term contract. It was his first full season in the first team and we can all be pleased with what we witnessed. He has developed into a bit of a leader on the pitch over the last 12 months.

Meanwhile..

Arsenal and Fiorentina’s officials exchanged briefcases at a secret location with the promise that no double crossing will take place by any party, a stony stare with a firm handshake followed.

An anonymous tip off to Arsenal and Fiorentina fans happened on the blogs, websites and sports media. Melo was on his way to Arsenal in a swap with Emmanuel Eboue, cue uproar from the bad guys at Juventus who had already offered £17.54p for the midfield powerhouse.

The exchange will take place somewhere in a warehouse exactly in the middle of London and Italy

said the man with the inside information. This information was supposed to be for Arsene’s ears only but I guess not everyone knew how big the Internet was these days.

Everything was going according to plan, The Arsenal and Fiorentina mafia turned up nice and early to make sure that nothing would go wrong, astonishingly the Arsenal forgot to bring along Emmanuel Eboue, so Gazidis made a quick call to a nearby look alike company and they sent over Edwin Ebank in a taxi along with dark glasses and cap.

The stage was set, the tipped off Arsenal, Fiorentina and Juventus fans were starting to turn up outside the warehouse pushing and shoving to get the best view. Melo was set to walk out the doors with Arsene Wenger but just then a fully armoured white and black striped car skidded around the corner. In came the big men with a gold briefcase with £18 million pounds cash inside. HALT! give us Melo! shouted a Juventus official, Fiorentina threw a tied up Melo in the direction of the men with the case being slid in the other direction.

Gazidis and Wenger were nowhere to be seen while Edwin Ebank was sat crying on the floor. All the fans and hacks were all waiting for the first face to come out from the door and that was of Melo, pleased to be out alive. One hack missed all the action as he had to take a leak around the back. It was he who saw Wenger, Gazidis and that of now identified Blaise Matuidi.

The hack followed the car to London and has confirmed that the player and Arsenal were in talks as well as the agent who was smuggled in the trunk of the car.

All in all it was good work from everyone involved. Juventus were tricked into paying big money to Fiorentina. Arsenal were able to use the club Florence club as a decoy and Blaise Matuidi is on the brink of becoming an Arsenal player, or so Sky Sports ‘understand’ what on earth is that all about. The BBC understand! Understand what?

What I do understand is that the board have turned down Usmanov’s very kind offer of a truckful of cash just for a hug. Which we all expected.

Before I go I would just like to say how happy I was to view the pictures of the team training in the rain, nothing to do with the rain exactly, just the training part.

It hit me when I saw just how many players who didn’t play towards the end or even the whole of last season.

Rosicky, Eduardo, Gallas, Clichy, Vermaelen, Senderos, Traore that is three quarters of a team. I expect another face to be heading through the doors at the Emirates and that should make our already talented squad fat and juicy.

It has just got me thinking, with Man U selling their best attacking players and Chelsea chopping and changing again, I wonder who will finish second to us in season 2009/2010.

10 days until Barnet! whoo hoo! Enjoy your rain/sun filled day.
