What irony that the player that Wenger wanted to partner Cesc in the summer was the one player who caused his International team mate to miss most of the remainder of the season

Good afternoon to you all,

Quick post today as I covered pretty much all that is going on in my late night My Vision.

Cesc Fabregas has been speaking about the injury.

It was a complete accident. I had my leg up, he came in like a bull and he took the ball and my leg
‘I’m lucky because it could have been worse. My leg was not on the ground because if it had been I would have been out for much longer.
He was worried and telephoned me after the game. He’s has been sending me text messages as well. These are things that happen, it is football and Xabi is a great friend.’

What irony that the player that Wenger wanted to partner Cesc in the summer was the one player who caused his International team mate to miss most of the remainder of the season.

It is quite amazing what can happen in just one short season. Cesc’s injury currently means that we are playing with a completely different midfield as to the one of last season.

Potentially this team have the ability to surpass the side of last season but at present I think last seasons midfield was a big reason as to why we sat top of the league at this stage. It will be pretty hard to understand if Wenger doesn’t feel he needs to add to midfield.

Arseblog recommended the signing of Scott Parker and I would tend to agree with that. Good passer of the ball, tough tackling and a good tempo starter but he is as injury prone as they come.

Arsene Wenger has defended his sale of Lassana Diarra.

“I have no regrets, not at all,” said Wenger. “We had a midfield with Hleb, Fabregas, Flamini and Rosicky. He was behind them and didn’t accept it. What can you do?
“He was told when he arrived you have to be patient. I told him that in front of his agent on the final day [of the transfer window].

I still do not think he should have been allowed to leave, he could have been sent on loan and told that he is not allowed to be sold as he has just joined 10 minutes ago.

Another midfielder who has been linked to us is Udinese’s Gokhan Inler. He was in talks in the summer but decided to stay with his club.

Reports suggest that Arsenal may come back with a bid, but I just cannot see it happening if it didn’t in the summer months.

We shall be hearing plenty more rumours over the next couple months so bear with me.

Ole Gunner has written a very good article that shall be on later.

Merry Christmas all!
