Adebayor spotlight good for Arsenal / JET out of Carling Cup tie

My first reaction was that it was done with intent and he was lucky to get away with it. Many have said that Cesc has done nothing wrong and Adebayor just lost the plot but can that really happen?

Every bloody day, I say something like ‘well that is enough from him, at least we will not have to hear about him until we face City at the Emirates’

The next day there are new stories about that man and our players. It is not like I can ignore it when our captain is talking about him. Perhaps I shall leave the subject open, that way surely the reverse will happen and it will go all quiet tomorrow. That is the thing I guess, it is a story, a pretty big one at that, it creates plenty of interest therefore journalists will continue to write about it until someone else is flavour of the month. As our players are usually targeted as negative flavour of the month (I guess that is sour taste of the month) I suppose this can only be a good thing. Have you noticed that is pretty hush hush from the media regarding our defeat at Eastlands and our poor defensive showing in Belgium.

Who fancies writing some negative articles about Adebayor, take some of his stuff out of context and continue this spotlight on him so we can go about our business.

I suppose Manchester United must be laughing the loudest, their biggest rivals (have faith!) lose with their former player contributing to the victory as well as getting himself banned for the game against themselves. That is the luck that Manchester United carry around with them.

Back to Cesc Fabregas, he has body slammed his former teammate colleague over his behaviour last weekend.

Cesc said:

“I think this is a red card here. I was lucky my foot was in the air when it happened. You know this is football and it can happen,”

“All I tried to do when he was at Arsenal was to create opportunities for him to score. So I think I didn’t do too bad for him. It is a bit strange. It is football and we don’t think about him any more. He doesn’t play for Arsenal and we just have to concentrate on our game and our play.”

My first reaction was that it was done with intent and he was lucky to get away with it. Many have said that Cesc has done nothing wrong and Adebayor just lost the plot but can that really happen? Van Persie is a hot headed guy, very passionate about football but if he left the club (horrible thoughts I know) and played against us can you imagine he would step on ankles or rake studs down faces? No, I don’t, so it was not just the heat(s) of the moment. Emmanuel Adebayor clearly had issues with certain Arsenal players and they must have had issues with him.

Our dressing room couldn’t have been the most fun place to be at last season. Gallas, Toure, Nasri, Adebayor, Bendtner, Van Persie all players having some sort of issue with another, or so we are lead to believe.

Emmanuel Eboue who is supposed to be pretty close to Adebayor summed it all up perfectly.

Eboue said:

“He didn’t do well because you have a lot of young people who watch the game and they see that and it’s no good for football, But I am very, very happy because the FA have given him a three-game ban (for the Van Persie stamp).

“I know him and I think he will think about that and he will take it on board and now will try to play his game. What he did was no good for football. I am very disappointed about it, very disappointed. When he was in our team we did everything together and so we don’t know what happened.”

Indeed Mr Eboue, this has no place in football whatsoever (unless someone can actually catch John Terry, then I would gladly sweep it under the carpet)

I love what Eboue said about Adebayor contacting him.

“If Adebayor calls me I will speak with him. But he didn’t call me yet. I’ll wait. If he calls me I will say ‘Thank you God’. If he doesn’t call me, that’s his problem.”

I would like to think that Arsenal players will now distance themselves with that big, lanky, ungrateful….

ok, moving away from him until later on when I will talk some more *wink wink* Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has extended his stay at Blackpool for an additional two months which will mean he will not take part in the Carling cup side that will play against high flying West Brom on Tuesday. I suppose when you are in the first team set up of a team, no matter what level it is you want to be apart of it, especially if you are getting plenty of game time. We all have high hopes for the one they call JET, so good luck Jay.

ok, that is pretty much that, Match thoughts and predictions either this evening or in the morrow.
