Adebayor looked a little rusty and could have done with a central partner to play one-two’s with. Eduardo dropped into midfield when we were defending but did not manage to join Adebayor as much as we would have liked
It was nearly the perfect evening to a wonderful football match. The match was played in a great sprit by both teams which is very refreshing to see in this day and age in such an important match.
Flamini, Hleb and Senderos were fantastic last night. Clichy, Sagna and Cesc were very good and it is just a shame that one of our front men could not match the approach play.
I thought we showed Milan a little too much respect in the first half and we played at a slower tempo than we normally do at home. The second half was alot better and we looked alot sharper all over the pitch. Hleb drifted inside and along with Cesc they dominated possession. Milan’s lack of width meant that Hleb could operate in a more central position without it effecting Clichy.
Adebayor looked a little rusty and could have done with a central partner to play one-two’s with. Eduardo dropped into midfield when we were defending but did not manage to join Adebayor as much as we would have liked.
So who has the advantage in the return leg? The answer is both teams. Milan will have the crowd behind them and they will have their familiar pitch etc but if we score first then the tie will be in our hands. We always have the ability to score goals. But we will not have many chances so Adebayor will have to be sharper than he was yesterday.
Will we have Van Persie back? Will Rosicky feature? Those two fit along with our current squad will be very strong.
Adebayor has been speaking about his last minute header against the crossbar.
“I cannot even explain what happened. That is football, and is what we are made of,” he said.
“I had an amazing chance, but I put the ball onto the bar. That, though, is what it is like – sometimes everything is okay, and sometimes the ball just does not want to go into the net.
“But as a striker the most important thing is to be creating the chances.
“Hopefully I will put one in at the San Siro.”
Clarence Boddicker Seedorf has warned Arsenal that Milan will be a different side in the San Siro.
The 31-year-old said: “We didn’t have the whole squad at 100 per cent. A lot of our players have problems, me included. Three or four players were badly injured.
“That’s not an excuse but just to know we can do something more in the home game. We are confident there is going to be another massive result from our part. Now we have to focus on the next games in the league and try to get as fit as possible.”
Well the same could be said about our players. We are down the bare bones and have had players like Flamini, Clichy and Senderos carrying injuries. Hopefully be the time we meet again our players will be fitter and fresher plus a few more injured players back.
Well now it is all about Birmingham on Saturday. I expect Arsene will want to shuffle round the team slightly so we may see Denilson feature. Anyway, that is about it for today, apologies for late post.
