AKB vs CMB / Grimandi could be off

It is amazing how both sides of the coin think they are correct and the opposite have no clue about football. That is why the game is so special

Tuesday football day is not as good when you are carrying a stupid niggling injury that you have had for the last two weeks and has prevented you from regaining your best form. I think it is time to change my name to Mean Rosicky or Tomas Lean, something like that anyway.

Some days I am full of topics and content to write about other times my mind feels like it is still fast asleep. By the start of this article guess which frame of mind I am in.

The curly maestro and current scout Gilles Grimandi may be on the verge of packing his bags and taking up a new role at Paris Saint Germain as sporting director according to reports in France.

He was never the best player in the world that’s for sure but he was not to be messed with that’s for sure. Ask Diego Simeone and Edgar Davids.

There have been rumours that Lillian Thuram of Barcelona could replace him but there is nothing in that story right now, just a load of rumours, so don’t take it as gospel.

Dirctor Danny Fiszman has said that Arsenal will not copy the Chelsea model by spending huge to gain success.

Fiszman said: ‘We don’t believe in the benefactor model.’

‘It is not a question of a one-time infusion of cash to buy player x or player y. You actually then have salaries that are connected to the players.’

He said of big-name players:

‘What if they don’t work out? Do you go and buy another two or three players? Is there any end to it?

‘So I think everybody, including Chelsea, knows there are limits. Chelsea were not big spenders last summer certainly – they got our old player Steven Sidwell on a free transfer.

I can see the CMB (Championship manager brigade) wincing in pain after reading that quote.

For those who do not know, there seems to be two camps at the moment, the AKB (Arsene knows brigade) who like myself have faith in Mr Wenger and trust him to do the right thing for the club. I can see the picture that he is trying to paint and he has almost finished his master piece but unfortunately the CMB (Championship manager brigade) cannot see it yet. The CMB lot are the guys and girls who want Arsenal to spend 60 million on 6-7 new world class superstars because they assume it is the only way we are going to get success. And like Chelsea this season it works everytime even if (like us) you do not have that sort of money.

There, just wanted to keep the readers of this site informed with the lingo that is going around on various different sites. I think as there is no abuse then it is good fun.

It is amazing how both sides of the coin think they are correct and the opposite have no clue about football. That is why the game is so special.

Nacer Barazite is setting his sights on a first team role this season and I think he certainly has the ability to make a name for himself.

“I came to Arsenal with my target of reaching the first team as quick as possible. But I didn’t expect to be 17 and making my debut! That was a shock but I was playing well at the time so perhaps not so much of a shock. I am really happy with the last two years and hopefully it can keep going next year.”

I really think he could make the step up because he is so assured on the ball and seems to know what he is going to do before he gets the ball, a little like the way Cesc does. Like the Dutch Arsenal strikers past and present he tends to drop off the front and link the midfield and attack really well.

From what I have seen you could almost take anyone of the reserve, youth strikers and plunk them into the first team and after a few months you would have a quality player who can develop into world class but the problem is not all of those players will get the chance at Arsenal so it will be a case of filtering through the cream of the crop.

I think Wilshere, Barazite, Traore and Randall could well be the cream. There are many more who could be added to that. But I am sure we will witness some more Bentley’s, Sidwell’s leaving the club.

Former Arsenal defender Pascal Cygan has been released by Villarreal. How much the guy feel? Come on don’t be cruel. He has been let go for not being good enough by his last two clubs that much hurt. He should go back to France where he was a success and build his confidence back up again. Poor chap, good luck Pascal.

Have a good day. Drop your view in the comments.

Until tomorrow.

Update: Real have confirmed interest in Hleb and Real coach Bernd Schuster said that he is surprised about Hleb being available. Yup, so am I!
