Arsenal apparently deny Zenit ‘agreement’

Then this morning Sky Sports claim that Arsenal have denied that a deal has been reached with the clubs. So if this is the case then I can only assume that all three parties are wrangling about the £2.5million that Zenit want from Arshavin

Well hello to you once again,

There is only one place to start today isn’t there? Arsenal have agreed a fee with Zenit St Petersburg *cue loud cheers!* oh but wait, its not a case of popping down to Arsenal to put pen to paper.. There is now an issue with either the players wages or a signing on fee that Zenit want Arshavin to pay to them *cue massive groans* Oh by hold on, wait for it. Arsenal have come out and denied that a fee has been agreed. What on earth is going on?

Why-o-why cannot life just be straight forward. Ok, if it gets sorted out then this will be a distant memory but if the deal falls over then someone out there somewhere is in need of a slap. Not quite sure who though.

Right I do not quite know what is going on here but I shall try and put this down on paperweb browser.

Zenit first of all claimed that they have agreed a fee with Arsenal but Arshavin has asked for excessive wage demands which would appear a little strange to me. Surely the club would have been in contact with his agent and spoken about terms already. What I have read is that Zenit want a one off payment from the player, so Arshavin has included that in his wage demands so he can be reimbursed over his contract.

The Russian club said:

“A fundamental agreement over the fee in the transfer of the player has been reached between the clubs, subject to a medical,” said Zenit. “But, at the moment, the basic obstacle preventing the transfer going through are Andrei Arshavin’s personal terms. The player and his agent have made it clear to Arsenal that they will require a higher wage, which the management at Arsenal are not prepared to pay. At the moment, Arsenal will only satisfy those demands at a lower transfer fee. This puts the whole deal in doubt.”

Arsenal obviously will not be willing to break their wage structure for Arshavin because this would mean an overall wage hike around the club for players like Cesc, Van Persie, Gallas, Adebayor etc

Then this morning Sky Sports claim that Arsenal have denied that a deal has been reached with the clubs. So if this is the case then I can only assume that all three parties are wrangling about the £2.5million that Zenit want from Arshavin.

So it is kind of a where to now situation. I doubt Arsenal will be willing to fund an extra £2.5 million on an already inflated transfer fee and Zenit are not going to wave that away.

I have an idea, a pretty good idea that would kill two birds with the proverbial one stone. Our good Russian chum Alisher Usmanov should flick open his wallet (police style) and pick out a cool (not hot, but a cool) £2.5million give it to Zenit, then while he is at it, sell his shares to the current board at a reduced rate, if he didn’t want to do that then he could give them to me for free and he would be doing everyone a massive favour. As that is unlikely I am wondering how this will be resolved.

I’ll tell you what though, if Arsenal did complicated, non straight forward transfers, they would probably be the most complicated non straight forward transfers in the world!

Is this the worst? Does this top the Baptista and Nasri saga’s? I believe it does.

I think it is time for a temporary subject change. Arsene Wenger believes that the team can challenge if they can find consistency.

“If we are consistent we can come back,” said the manager. “We are six points from Man United, who have a game in hand.

“But if you look at the six points we dropped it is unbelievable how easy we dropped them. That is why it is important to be consistent now.”

We certainly are within reach of the top, especially as we have big teams above us to play still. We have had a good sequence of results lately but the team are going to have to be consistent and improve game by game for us to climb closer to the top because it is difficult to imagine all teams above us failing on a regular basis. What is very encouraging is that we should have some top players such as Cesc, Eduardo, Walcott and perhaps even Rosicky which will no doubt improve an already talented team.

Not much else going on right now, I could talk about the Everton match tomorrow but I think I shall save that for tomorrow.

The one thing I will say before I go is, thank you to all who comment and contribute to the site. I have got to know most of the names and comments over the last couple of seasons and it is great that you share your thoughts and opinions with others. I am hoping to take the comments section further. It appears that many come leave comments then vanish until much later or the next day. I am hoping to have more discussion and more interaction which will improve the site and make it more readable. So if anyone can think of ways of encouraging this then please let me know on the Contact us page.

Hopefully by the time of my next My Vision blog I will be talking about the signing of Andrei Arshavin, but probably not.
