Arsenal confidence growing / Early Spurs talk

To be honest the team have always known how to dig in, ok perhaps ignoring our inconsistencies at the back it is just when they decide they want to turn up

Today quotes coming out from the players and manager seem very positive right now, back to back victories over Everton, Fenerbahce and West Ham has certainly picked up spirits. The next 4 matches are all winnable matches which would be possible to give the team good momentum.

Tottenham Hotspurs have also found new confidence following the sudden arrival of Harry Redknapp and victory at home to Bolton.

Arsene seems pretty happy with how things are going so far.

Wenger said:

“Overall it has been very good,” said Wenger. “We have come back to one point behind Chelsea when everyone thought they were untouchable and that makes it open. Maybe next week Liverpool will drop points.

“It’s a very open championship but it’s very early, with just nine games played. We are not even halfway through the first half [of the Premier League campaign] so we will have a lot of surprises to come.

“Now we have a big game on Wednesday so let’s win it. Arsenal is playing Tottenham at home and that means we want to win the game.”

It just goes to show how quickly things can change over the course of a league season, there will be many slip ups between all four big sides and that does not even include the games against each other.

Theo Walcott has spoken about how the team has had to adjust to the tough nature of the Premier League.

Walcott said:

“We knew what to expect at Upton Park and dug in.

“Sometimes people say we do not do all the dirty things, which we did during the first half. We frustrated them at times.

“Then we got our goal in the end before Adebayor’s second killed the game off.

“It goes to show that we do not just play pretty football and can put our foot in when it has to be done.”

To be honest the team have always known how to dig in, ok perhaps ignoring our inconsistencies at the back it is just when they decide they want to turn up. They did turn up against West Ham even if we were not that sharp in the final third. As long as we can keep tackling and chasing and tracking back then we will be fine.

I am a little concerned about the influence of Harry Redknapp before the derby tomorrow but it appears that Robin couldn’t care less.

He was asked if Arry could make an impact and Robin politely said.

“I don’t know and I honestly don’t care. The game against Spurs is one on its own and it’s a big one, irrespective of where they are in the table. They won their first game on Sunday, which is great for them, but we’ll see what happens on Wednesday. It was a massive win for us against West Ham that proved we have the resilience to challenge for the league.

Make no mistake about it, they will all be up for it and will have nothing to lose. We will have to match them. They will probably play 4-5-1 with Bent up front on his own in an attempt to catch us on the break. Cesc will have to beat up Modric in the battle of the little playmakers. I just hope that King is out, he always seems to do well against us, even if he has old man knees.

I am contacting a few regular readers to the site so if you could leave your email address in the email box when you post a comment then I can do just that. Have a great day, wish today was Wednesday.

Update:

I almost forgot, congratulations to Tony Adams for receiving the mangers job at Portsmouth, good luck to him. I have a gut feeling that he will have a bad time of it, nothing concrete in it at all, no facts or anything just a feeling. Hope I am wrong of course.
