Unlucky to Alex Song who watched his side slump to a 1-0 loss in the final of the ACN. Song started the match but didn’t last very long due to injury
Oh what a lovely day it is so far isn’t it?
Manchester United have picked up a wonderful tally of 1 point from their last two. Chelsea have a slightly more impressive tally of a whole 2 points from two games. Ok, I better not make fun because the fixture list is still looking fairly long with plenty of points left to rack up.
Who expected Manchester City to beat Man Utd at Old Trafford, especially during that sort of occasion? I certainly didn’t. I had a feeling that Benjani would score. If his transfer went ahead as it was supposed to then he could have been facing us last week. It was obviously fate.
Chelsea 0 Liverpool 0 was a massive pile of pooh, it was pretty dull but the end result allowed me to enjoy the game a little more than it would do normally.
So a win tonight against Blackburn will put us 5 points clear of Man Utd. We need to get ourselves on a winning streak now, it is the perfect time for it. Birmingham (away), Aston Villa (home) and Wigan (away) are our next three matches and it looks like we will need to battle in all three of those games to gain wins, pretty football will not be enough to get 9 points from those games.
The real special one, Arsene Wenger has been talking about how much Cesc Fabregas has matured as a player and person.
Wenger said: “Cesc is committed and you always like your players to have a winning attitude. Sometimes it can go a little over the top but Cesc has behaved well this season – I cannot remember one incident.
“There was maybe a stage, for about six months, where he went a bit the wrong way but he corrected that without any special management from me.
“Because he is so intelligent he realised that is not the way he wanted to go. Maybe the outrage in the media prompted that but great players always have a fair assessment of their behaviour.”
Like Patrick Vieira had, Cesc has that little bit of fire in his belly because he is a winner. It looks like he plays the game with his heart on his sleeve and when things are not going right it can show.
I really believe that this is the main reason as to why we are having such a good season this year. Cesc, Flamini, Gallas, Sagna, Adebayor ,Clichy, Eduardo are all players who go onto the pitch wanting nothing but a victory. They are all players who play with passion and commitment. I think we lacked that at times under Thierry Henry. Sometimes matches seemed a little to focused on the striker instead of wining the game. I would never take anything away from him as he is one of my favourite players and probably the best in Arsenals history.
Unlucky to Alex Song who watched his side slump to a 1-0 loss in the final of the ACN. Song started the match but didn’t last very long due to injury. It was uncle Song who got into a complete mess and practically gifted Egypt the winner late in the game. It is unfortunate for young Song as he was one of the best midfield players in the whole tournament and even managed a place in the tournament best 11.
He could have jumped straight back into the Arsenal squad and continued his impressive form a little like how Eboue did a couple of seasons ago. But now he will have to get over his injury and build himself back up to full fitness and sharpness. Let us all hope that Flamini is fit enough to start tonight.
I do not have much in the way of predictions tonight but I think it will be a close game. I think we may look a bit disjointed tonight. A mixture of injuries and match sharpness may be the cause of this. I hope we see another first half at Manchester City last week but I am not sure if we will. I am going for a late 1-0 or late 2-1 winner.
Enjoy your day and come on you Gunners capitalise!
Until tomorrow.
