Arsene sings praises, Eduardo & Rosicky’s positions plus other stuff

Many did not expect him to be around this season so lets not push him into the ‘out the door next season’ basket, he could well have a fantastic season and be offered a new shiny one year deal which he could take

Good afternoon Gooners,

It is Champions League night tonight and we are hoping for a good professional performance from the lads, I don’t know why but I am not overly excited about the game tonight, well not as excited as I usually am. I think I have the Manchester United game scrambling my Arsenal signals, it is causing mass interference. The problem is that the Celtic game is far more important than 1 of 38 Premier League matches, luckily Arsene is a clever man and will be drumming that into the squad who take to the pitch tonight.

“Celtic is a more important game for the club than Saturday, by far, Because against Celtic, you cannot catch back. Even if we drop points against Man United, you can always catch back. You still have 35 games to go. If you miss the Celtic game, you have zero. It is a massive game. It is much bigger than Saturday.”

Anyway you can read more on the game, a round about HERE

Arsene has been doing his usual giving his players self confidence via the media ahead of a big game, so lets start with William Gallas.

Wenger said:

He has taken the right attitude which is what you expect from a top-level sportsman. “What is the most important for me is that he’s looking sharp defensively.

“We know that he will score goals, although some of them have been a bit accidental but very helpful. What I mean is that it’s not what I expect from him if he doesn’t score any more – but as a defender I’m very happy. That’s all I want from him.”

He looks lean and mean (sounds familiar somehow) right now, playing very well and looking sharp. Certainly physically the best he has looked for a while. I already love the Gallas – Vermaelen combo, they look like they have really worked hard over the summer to establish a good on pitch relationship. I am very much jumping the gun because they are yet to be properly tested and that will happen over the course of the season but what they have had to deal with, they have dealt with very sufficiently and without any fuss. Needless to say, long may that continue.

Many did not expect him to be around this season so lets not push him into the ‘out the door next season’ basket, he could well have a fantastic season and be offered a new shiny one year deal which he could take, but one step at a time lets see how he gets on.

Our old, new signing Eduardo Da Silva has also been praised by Arsene Wonder.

Wenger said:

“Eduardo was one of the players we missed terribly because he can score goals and provide, It is a massive season for Eduardo because he was out for such a long time – he was out before he could prove what a big player he is.

“In the first season for the first six months, he did not play a lot. When he then came in and showed his class, he was then injured and lost a whole season. Now he is in the third season, without having the opportunity until now to prove how good he is.”

“I had doubts about his injuries and only fools would say they had no doubt. When you see his first injury, you had to have doubts, but he has shown his strength of character – and now I have no doubts any more about him because for me he is completely a normal player.”

The lad looks good right now doesn’t he? He already has a goal and an assist to his name so far and we know that he can stick that round thing in the stringy part which is quite handy when playing this game.

My only question or wonder is if Wenger would play him through the middle of a front three, does he trust him there? Does Wenger think that he can do that job? The reason why I say this is because we know what his main strength is, it is what he does better than anyone else in our squad at present. I wonder if he will get continuous goal scoring opportunities whilst playing from a wide position. We know that the three interchange so he will end up in that area but will it be as often as we would like.

I have visions of Eduardo being first choice, playing 90% of our games in a central position and breaking goal scoring records and I would kinda like to see that but at the same time our manager knows what our players can do and cannot do more than me.

Perhaps Eduardo is being slowly eased in so playing in a wider area means that he is likely to avoid more physical contact from central defenders, who knows. I guess we will have to wait and see.

The news yesterday about Rosicky being back in the squad for Saturday really lifted my spirits. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t even injured in the first place and Wenger was just protecting him to make sure that he didn’t break down again after his little set back during the Emirates cup.

I am very intrigued to see where he ends up on the pitch in our new system. A versatile attacking, yet hard working tackler who can operate in either midfield or attacking positions. He could be slotted into the attacking positions to protect his fitness like Eduardo and Diaby before him.

We have been cruelly robbed of his services for the last few years and hopefully that will all change from now on. The thought of Rosicky, Cesc, Arshavin, Nasri and Van Persie interchanging and out passing the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd and even Barcelona is more than mouth watering, more like mouth flooding.

Arsene has ruled out a Theo comeback for both England and Arsenal. I can’t be bothered to include the quotes but Arsene is not so happy about his speedy winger being used and abused by his national sides.

He has now missed a pre season with us and picked up an injury probably due to his lack of pre season. If the players continue to perform then it will be difficult for Theo to regain his starting place in the Arsenal team, at least for the short term. Then he has to ask himself, was the England u21 trip really worth it?

And with that, I bid you farewell. Why not enjoy the game tonight.

Back again tomorrow.
