Wenger Out Boys – Be Careful What You Wish For

As Madrid outwardly deny all rumors of fights, rifts, arguments, etc.; they are internally preparing themselves for the inevitable. The team has assembled a list of possible replacements and targets. The name at the top of that list is none other than AW, Arsenal's main man. The information given to me is that Real are not so much concerned by FFP, but annoyed by it. If you recall it is Florentino Perez that began speaking out about a possible "Super League", were the best from each country would breakaway from UEFA's Champion's League format and face each other. Perez felt that UEFA had mishandled the CL and wanted to ensure the "best play the best". Now that plan has been all but forgotten and Real are bracing themselves for some sort of FFP implementation. Perez is

The State of my Arsenal

The Emirates should be a fortress and yes, I understand that come largely from the players on the pitch. But it also comes from us. Go to a game and it’ll be silent when we’re winning, but the crowd will be on everyone’s backs if we go behind, or if we’re still level at half-time. Turn this around, and look at what it was like watching Chelsea fans boo Torres. When you see a home crowd get on their players back, you start believing. You feel like that home advantage has suddenly been eaten up. WE have to do our bit too.

Dear Mr. Kroenke

You don't LOVE this club. You may respect it; you may like/love what it does for the bank account of your holding company, etc. But you don't love it, deep inside like most Gooners do. When the failures of a season or a loss to a rival or the lack of trophies keeps up awake at night or ruins a day or weekend. This is a major problem. When you only show up on certain matchdays and are silent and little involved the rest of the time, this makes us worry and rightfully so, about your true intentions and your true

Controlling the Midfield Pt. II – Swansea Follow-up

This would be pretty close to the depth chart I would look for. The rotation at each position would be possible and allow for fresh legs and proper cover. Most of all Arsenal would have an efficient player, pace, stature, attitude and strength in midfield that AFC desperately lack when Diaby is not fit, so basically always.  I didn't put Rambo in any of the positions as we no longer know where he fits do we? He's a lost player that had such promise, now in many minds an after-thought. The thing is the Gunners have many midfielders that can be played at a variety of positions, but a DM, anchor, etc. AFC don't have a one that can truly embrace and excel in that role bar Diaby and his fitness is lacking in any case. Coquelin is a good little player but

Controlling the Midfield is the Key Moving Forward

Jack and Santi spend more time tracking back then going forward. Arteta is being hugely misplayed at the DM position and isn't physical enough to be the imposing presence AFC need to stop the opposition and then to be able to launch the attacks we are capable of mounting. Don't get me wrong, on their day, the boys can beat ANYONE. The issue is when its normal play and things don't go perfectly for them, they simply buckle and absorb pressure, they don't dish it out.

AFC on the Brink…But Not How You Think

Arsene isn't going anywhere. He is too good at what he does for the board to go with anyone else. He continues to find talent for cheap and sell for high whilst maintaining AFC in the top four and always taking the blame. Don't get me wrong, he has plenty of blame that deserves to come his way, but he also has a lot of credit. Arsene won't want to leave when AFC is in this condition and the recent results may well give him the transfer funds and mandate to do what is needed and fill the holes at AFC. The truth is this, although his ideas have gotten stale and there have been issues with his choices lately,

Guest Post: Balance and Experimentation

We have missed these options so far due to injuries but if these players can remain fit for the most part, you can see the benefit to the team this will have. Diaby is a player that I like very much and there are games in which perhaps he is better suited that Wilshere. He has a certain unique physical presence that is useful against teams that play with Sam Allardyce tactics. The argument comes down to

What next for Theo Walcott?

When it comes to football though, I believe the footballer is replaceable. What’s most likely more disappointing for him, I’d imagine on a personal level is the specific player who recently it seems, offers more than what Walcott does. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was given the nod ahead of Walcott in Arsenal’s recent victory at Anfield and what was most noticeable was the tactical awareness he showed in covering and protecting his full back, Carl Jenkinson.  Yes he’s a ‘bums off seats’ player, which Theo can be, but at four years Walcott’s junior he showed a willingness to defend, and his positional sense throughout the game was on

Are Arsenal Leading or Lagging?

A thriving youth set-up, top-notch facilities, amazing stadium, and all the rest of the package make Arsenal one of the top sports franchises in the world. While the #1 goal is to win trophies, we all agree there, how we get there can be just as important. Will the 7 year wait be worth it if when we win, we do it the Arsenal way? In my opinion, it absolutely will. Add all the things that were accomplished

Arsene Wenger’s whip of apathy: It’s cracking, and it’s good

It was this willing suspension of disbelief by Arsene, as protege after protege played us like a flute and got out while the going was good, which acted as a source of much ire among supporters. We had an abundance of talent in 2007-08, but lost out on three defensive minded midfielders in one fell swoop. Wenger sold Diarra because he trusted Flamini to sign a new contract, while Flamini made googly eyes at AC Milan and pranced off into the Italian sunset. Hleb got frisky
