Match Preview – Newcastle (h) – Premier League
Well, the doom-o-meter was certainly off the charts after the Fulham game now. A dismal performance and a first loss of the season, to Fulham of all teams, a hated Manchester United player arriving as the experienced Premier League signing Wenger talked about in pre-season, with no other signings on the horizon. It’s certainly looking a bit bleak. The Twente result was a good one, and it’s nice to have Cesc back...
Fabregas is probably still injured for this game, he might be back by the second leg of the Twente tie, although it doesn’t really seem worth rushing him back for that. Not sure for how long Senderos is expected to be out for
Nasri and Toure should return for this game. Other than that we’ll stay the same. Senderos and Fabregas will miss out, Diaby’s out till early September
This is a game we should win, but Twente won't necessarily be a walkover. They finished fourth behind the mighty NAC Breda in Eredivisie last season
Sagna, Diaby and Rosicky are out injured, Hleb is still suspended, Flamini and Lehmann probably won’t be involved in the squad at all. Van Persie didn’t play against Everton due to his ‘pre-cautionary’ withdrawal against Derby
I may have been hasty with my comments before the Derby game that Flamini is out for the season, it is suggested that he’ll be back in the squad for this game
Sagna didn’t make it to full fitness in time for the Manchester United match, and is out once again. At this stage of the season it doesn’t really matter too much, but he certainly improves the side and it would be nice to see us still playing well.
Sagna could return at right back for us. Rosicky is still injured, although it would be nice to have him back. van Persie might be fit to play, although his thighs were heavily strapped on Tuesday and I don’t really remember him doing anything in the twenty minutes
