I am very excited about what he will give this team. Not since Marc Overmars have we had an explosive wide goalscorer. Since Walcott has been playing with the first team, his pre season form has been good
Good morning to you,
Yesterdays members day was quite interesting, we saw where certain players are in terms of fitness for the coming season. Sami Nasri, Nicolas Bendtner and William Gallas did not take part in full training as they all seem to have knocks. Eduardo was jogging at the start to rapturous applause from the Arsenal faithful, Eduardo will be back in training in November. Rosicky and Traore were running together and did not take part in ball work.
All the rest of the squad looked in good sprits and enjoyed a practice match together. Tight spaces, quick passing, developing combinations. I was happy with the amount of quality we have in our squad.
I would find it difficult to tell who would be ready and who wouldn’t in practice games like that as it is completely different to real match situations.
The club were giving away several things like footballs, Almunia’s gloves. They also fired t-shirts into the crowd, and when it was being done I just knew one was coming my way, I had that feeling. One was fired in our section and it arrowed into the air and was landing above my head, I reached out my hand and caught it one handed, trouble is there was also another hand on the other part of the t-shirt which was being held by the woman next to me, she fluttered her eyes at me and said please and I gave in like the typical male that I am. Squid boy was also there yesterday and he took pictures and has written a full Members Day Report so have a read.
So the young’uns take part in a friendly tonight against Huddersfield, another chance to see the likes of Ramsay and Wilshere which will be interesting. Vela will also spearhead the attack. It is likely to be a pretty youthful side that take the field tonight which is good for the development. I actually wonder if their is a squad younger than ours in the whole of Europe right now.
Bacary Sagna has the belief and thinks that we can win the league.
Sagna said: “We have to win the title. We play to win everything and we will try to do it. We have been getting better and better. We will try to be wiser. We will show everyone we are still the Gunners and that we can win the title.”
It will be interesting to see if Sagna can improve on last season, I cannot imagine how he will be able to do so but he is young with room to get better. We really missed Sagna after the Chelsea game, both offensively and defensively.
Theo Walcott also has a good feeling about the upcoming season.
“If we all believe in ourselves, all believe in our team, I am sure we can do anything,” he told Sky Sports News.
“All you have to do is put your mind to it.
“Considering we haven’t got a big squad, I think it is quite good in a way that everyone can gel together, we know how we play and it is easier when only a couple of players come in, they can just settle in.”
Big year for Theo, I am very excited about what he will give this team. Not since Marc Overmars have we had an explosive wide goalscorer. Since Walcott has been playing with the first team, his pre season form has been good.
Have a good day. Drop your view in the comments.
Until tomorrow.
