I would have loved to have seen him in this new system with the new work ethic. Many will say that he was lazy and wouldn’t work hard in this system but I can count many Arsenal players who didn’t give their all every game
Another important game is almost upon us, it seems like an eternity since we last took to the pitch at Old Trafford. The International break has been mostly kind to us but we have been robbed of one of our better players, I wonder what he is going to say about it on his personal website because he has to take a slice of the blame for this one. He knew he had groin problems and still played. Why he played a full 90 minutes is beyond me though.
I wonder if Hiddink has any incoming calls on his phone bill from Roman Abramovich over the last few weeks. Not that I am suggesting anything you see.
Anyway we have to now focus on the players we do have and not the ones that have injured themselves cannot play.
Someone who will be playing today is Emmanuel Adebayor (for the opposition of course) and not for the first time he has had plenty to say.
The love hate relationship between the Arsenal fans and Adebayor has well and truly turned to hate with the former striker explaining the difference between the Manchester City support and the Arsenal fan.
“What is good at City is that the fans are truly fans. They love you. Arsenal have a lot of fans who are not fans. Arsenal have fans from America and Jamaica. Today they are Arsenal fans, tomorrow they will be Liverpool fans and after tomorrow they will be Manchester United fans.
‘If you boo your player every weekend, I am very sorry, you are not true fans. I can understand the frustration if you think the player wants to leave but I said on TV, newspaper and radio I wanted to stay.’’
“That hurt me a lot. That was the most difficult moment in my career. I did everything for that club. When I first signed at Arsenal they didn’t put even one pound on my salary at Monaco. I told them: ‘I will show you how good I am and afterwards we can discuss a contract.’
oooh nooo!! Like we used to say in the playground when someone said something distasteful about ones mother. I like everyone else has gone over this a thousand times and have my own opinion about the way he left but I would have loved to have seen him in this new system with the new work ethic. Many will say that he was lazy and wouldn’t work hard in this system but I can count many Arsenal players who didn’t give their all every game, even crowd favourites like Cesc Fabregas didn’t bust a gut for many matches.
Any hoo, it is over and done with. I loved how Hleb played and he has gone, Flamini was our best player that season in my eyes and he has decided that the money is greener on the other side. We are now a better team than we were in the last two years, well that is my opinion anyway, although a little early to prove that point.
We have all wanted to know what the beef was between Adebayor and Bendtner, and now we know. Adebayor has explained how the rift began.
Adebayor said:
“There was a rule at Arsenal where no one is allowed to come into the dressing room with trainers or house shoes on. I cannot understand why Nicklas came every day with his shoes on.
“Nicklas, you are a footballer, I am a footballer, Maybe I am better than you, maybe you are better than me but you have to respect everyone. There are rules saying you cannot come into the dressing-room with your house shoes. Take them off
Bendtner never took them off and things started from there. I cannot accept that. Even if that happened tomorrow at City, I would fight with somebody
Fight, fight fight! continuing the school theme. You can understand Adebayor’s point, not that it is down to him to enforce the rules but anyway. The most important thing is that our defence and midfield keep him quiet and do not allow him to continue his scoring run.
The ruck at the scum started when Bendtner gave Adebayor the finger, that may have been for not passing the ball or for missing a chance but luckily for the squad, those issues are now in the past and we can all move on and be very happy. well happy if we can fulfil our potential and win trophies.
Yesterday I mentioned what the average ratings were for our Thomas Vermaelen and I had an email asking for the full list which I thought I would share today as there is nothing else to talk about.
Remember these are only my views and nothing official so no screaming at me saying that player x should be 0.1 higher than player y.
