Well done to Nicklas Bendtner for a very good confident display, he took his goals very well and I was very pleased for him. I would give him the next game against Burnley
Well that’s more like it Gooners, how nice was it that we scored 3 first half goals and could breathe easier in the second half. I haven’t felt like that for ages, I usually have the thought that Arsene is going to have to kick them up the Arsenal at half time to get the players to up the tempo a little.
Firstly, I would like to credit West Brom for playing some good football in the middle of the pitch, unfortunately for them their front and ends of the pitch will be the reason why they may just find themselves back in he Championship next season.
I seem to be clapping the opposition a little too much recently, but I hope they stay up at the expense of Tottenham, that would be justice all round I say.
Well done to Nicklas Bendtner for a very good confident display, he took his goals very well and I was very pleased for him. I would give him the next game against Burnley so he can hopefully build on it. I can’t believe how a player can be transformed by confidence, he was a totally different player last night than of late. His second goal was sheer class, Wenger must see these things on a regular basis in training and it is just a case of transforming that consistently in a match situation.
Arsene Wenger was in complimentary mood towards the young Dane striker.
Wenger said:
“It’s different when you play for Arsenal. You are being compared to the players who played five, six or ten years ago. But you have to accept that a guy of 19 or 20 years old will be better every three, six months. He has shown at West Brom that he has the talent to be an Arsenal player. That is the right way to mature. I liked his presence. I liked his determined attitude and the way he took people on. That shows he has improved.”
It is a shame that the negative fans out their do not take age into consideration, maybe they are not aware at the improvement a player goes through during his career.
I was targeted in the comments section on the Match Review for calling Bendtner, Dennis. I know he is not bloody Dennis Bergkamp, they are a one off but you have to admire quality finishing when you see it. He continued to slate Bendtner although he scored twice and contributed to an Arsenal victory. No positive words just anger and unprovoked attacks on our player. Maybe I am old fashioned but I thought winning makes you happy.
Robin Van Persie was sat watching on from the bench and Wenger for once didn’t have to turn to him to try and change things. Taking Robin out of the firing line was probably a good move from Wenger, he has run himself into the ground lately and has a dip in front of goal lately. A good rest and go again next time might just be all he needs.
The away support were in fine voice last night and it was great to hear, I felt goose bumps hearing all the old songs being sung by the Gooners. What happened to the Emirates? I almost forgot what it was like to hear proper support and not just moaners sitting there fiddling their thumbs. And only finding their voice to boo at the end of the game.
So next up is Burnley and we could see Walcott, Eduardo and Adebayor on the bench or at least close to the bench. How cool is that?
Before that, we turn our attentions to Manchester City vs Aston Villa tonight. I actually think Villa will beat a City side missing some key players like Craig Bellamy and maybe Robinho. But I do not think Villa will get through some other very tricky matches they have coming up.
Ok, that is my lot. Enjoy the victory throughout the day.
Back tomorrow.
