So what are we going to do against our bogey side Bolton tomorrow? Arsenal always find it tricky up north against the physical powerful Bolton team, probably cause our boys don’t like it up em!
If no one is going to stand up to these injuries then I am going to put myself forward. ‘What you think you are big time? Lets go! Come on.’
Well, that is how fights started at my school all those years ago. I quite possibly could have tried to start a fight with injuries back in those days but these days, I know my limits.
The reason for my opening paragraph of nonsense is to be blamed on my frustration that our striking crisis has just moved itself down a fraction on the pitch to the midfield area, like a highly contagious airborne virus.
We have a couple of big games against Bolton Wanderers coming up, starting at the Reebok stadium. Our midfield will be missing Alex Song, Denilson and Ramsey. Only bloody three of the players who have actually featured at the sitting midfielder position this season.
Diaby has recently spoken publicly about his willingness to provide cover for Song if the manager needs it and I would imagine that Le boss could well do with it at the moment.
We could have a midfield trio of Cesc Fabregas, Abou Diaby and Tomas Rosicky. Hang on a second if you please. That is a bloody strong midfield, which springs the question, how many teams can lose three central midfielders (who would have had a very good chance of playing) and still be able to pull out three internationals of that quality?
Of course Samir Nasri, who I can see in the background frantically waving his arm around in the attempt to get my attention, can and has played in that position but that was last season, for whatever reason Arsene hasn’t started him there this campaign but the bonus is having Rosicky and Nasri in the same side allows fluid rotation and movement during the game.
So the Sol and Galindo deals have been completed, two players at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Does anyone remember the ZX Spectrum? ahh the good old days. Anyway, back to 2010. It was surreal watching the Sol Campbell interview, he looks like an excited big kid who has been allowed to join the kids party.
I hope it works for him, I really do. More so for the good of the club of course but it would be good for him if he could leave the club on a high after the way he went abroad to Portsmouth the first time round. What’s the odds on Campbell scoring the winner against Barcelona in the Champions League final? Nah not likely, he will be watching Vermaelen doing just that.
Wenger has been bigging up our captain Cesc Fabregas, he feels that he can improve. Whoo hoo, that can only be good news for us (I hope)
His improvement over the last few years has been quite extraordinary. He wouldn’t have made that impact that he made against Aston Villa, a few years ago. When he was replaced at Burnley the whole team changed. He has now added goalscoring to his bow, the one area that let him down in the past. I don’t expect him to start powering in headers on a regular basis but if he can improve the other aspects of his game like his left foot and his striking of the ball. I am all for some more long range strikes Mr Fabregas.
So what are we going to do against our bogey side Bolton tomorrow? Arsenal always find it tricky up north against the physical powerful Bolton team, probably cause our boys don’t like it up em! Lets be honest, if anyone tried to put anything up me, then I wouldn’t be best pleased. Getting back to my point, our foreign lads are not going to be up for it on a cold Sunday afternoon.
Flick on Talksport, read the Daily Mail, listen to Mark Lawrenson and that is what you are likely to hear. Well listen to me and I shall hit you with some Rafa style facts.
In the last eight games against Bolton, they have beaten us once. That was in November 2006. It is currently 2010. Arsenal have won their last three games at the Reebok, scoring three goals in each of the three games.
Bolton had a good run against us from 2004-2006. That was four years ago, please leave the tired, old, boring, outdated analysis alone please.
Awww bless Liverpool. You have to feel sorry for them now. I have just watched them concede a late equaliser with minutes to spare then hit the post in stoppage time. The luck really isn’t going for them is it?
In some ways they remind me of us last season. Injuries earlier in the season and losing against teams they should be beating.
They are a little like we were, apart from the fact that we played attractive, attacking football and we do not have a team full of players who will not be getting any better, neither did we have a club run by clowns oh and we didn’t have our finances out of control and we also didn’t have a manager who would go all defensive when his team scored a goal and I am not sure if we spent stupid amounts on an injury ridden player only to sit him on the bench, I don’t think we did.
Apart from all those factors, I think the two clubs seem very close.
That is about that for now, I suppose I better get on with writing the pre match bogey team preview. It is so cold and north like, will our players even turn up for the game?
Back again tomorrow.
