The captaincy is still to be taken away from Gallas and placed on another players arm. There has been speculation about Cesc Fabregas, Gael Clichy and Manuel Almunia
Speculation galore this morning, it appears that William Gallas will be back in an Arsenal shirt at some point, perhaps even our upcoming Champions League match.
Gallas trained with the other players on Sunday as the side prepare themselves for Dynamo Kiev. I honestly thought that it would be the end of Gallas. I was waiting for Arsene to make up a never ending injury until January but maybe there have been clear the air talks behind the scenes. I hope that Djourou isn’t the one to be replaced but I cannot see anything other than that should Gallas return back to the starting eleven.
Djourou and Gallas looks like a partnership that could work.
The captaincy is still to be taken away from Gallas and placed on another players arm. There has been speculation about Cesc Fabregas, Gael Clichy and Manuel Almunia.
Personally I do not think that Clichy should get the role, as much as he is a fantastic full back and player I do not see him as a leader, he is not an organiser. Cesc Fabregas is one of only a few players at the club who has that extra edge in his game, he has desire and the will to win. He is also respected amongst his team mates. My only issue about Cesc being captain is his age and his current form. Is he experienced enough to lead other players? Will being captain be too much pressure for him?
As long as his form doesn’t suffer then surely he will be more beneficial to the team than Gallas was.
Tomorrows game against Kiev is important to the team and the confidence. Dynamo Kiev are a side that we really should beat, especially at home. I suppose we could say the same against all our defeats so far. A victory and a new captain appointment could get us back on track hopefully at least until January.
Arsene Wenger has spoken about the team and the need not to panic.
“When you play football you can always lose,” he said. “We just have not to panic, keep our focus and keep going. It is difficult, I don’t deny that, but there is no reason to be desperate.
“The difficulty in games like Man City and Aston Villa is that we really have to keep a 0-0 as long as possible. Many teams try to do that in England. They just defend and tried not to concede. Man City did that today but they came out after they scored.
“And when we are faced with that type of situation we sometimes lack a little patience.
“But I believe what is important now is the environment inside the Club and to keep the confidence high.”
Interesting comments from Arsene. we really have to keep a 0-0 as long as possible. Is this the reason we are playing 5 across midfield and playing Denilson and Song in the same side. When we are cagey we won’t win matches. We cannot sit back and get results. We need to be more offensive and competitive.
I was going to talk about Anelka but he does not deserve my time, I may make some more goat references before the Chelsea game.
Have a good day, and fingers crossed that the boys can pull something out of the bag tomorrow.
