My Vision

There has been constant talk of Cavani to Arsenal, mainly from Twitter which is pretty routine at this time of year. This is my take on Cavani and Arsène Wenger. I believe that Arsène wanted to buy him before he moved to PSG. I remember Arsène talking about the advantage French teams had with their wealth in the market soon after they bought him. He seemed a little agitated. Can't find that interview for the life of me. That was last summer when we needed a centre forward and we bought Mesut Özil. I think Cavani would be extremely difficult to buy in January plus his wages would more than likely be way more than we would be willing to pay, especially given the size of the transfer fee. So basically I reckon Arsène would like to have him at Arsenal but it won't happen. Whether he has his eyes on someone else, I don't know. Maybe I am barking up the wrong tree and he believes what he has is enough. Maybe Giroud, Welbeck and Alexis is enough number wise to play centrally

So Monaco have had to strip themselves of stars on big money. It would also be tempting to judge them on our pre season meeting against us when they were the better team on the day, especially in midfield but as you know, we were far from purring early in the season. In fact we've only just a few

I don't know if there is room for this or if it feasible or not but I'd be well up for a new position being opened up for Thierry as a finishing coach or something like that. Imagine Henry taking the likes of Welbeck, Walcott, Chamberlain, Giroud, Podol... never mind, Campbell and co and guiding them through the different situations they can find themselves in and what worked for him. Showing them footage of the Manchester United first half and making them correct the wrongs. That would be great because we know he has plenty of experience as a finisher and is a great role model for players to look up to. The rest if pretty much unknown apart from the fact that Thierry Henry thinks a lot about football according to Arsene Wenger

That was Jack Wilshere's 4th man of the match award in a row for his country which in itself is pretty amazing. Clearly the level of opposition has not been very high, in fact most of the teams have been below average so his new deep role still needs a proper going over by quality opposition. I would like to see  game where England have little of the ball so Jack's concentration can be judged as well as

It could all be coincidence and nothing to do with Shad Forsythe and his methods but then again he could have had an early impact, it's difficult to say one way or the other. But the most important fact is that we are starting to get players back for selection. Theo Walcott is already back part of the group and training, as is Serge Gnabry but you get the feeling that the latter could be somewhat Campbellised. We love our injuries at Arsenal but chopping through enough wide attacking players so Gnabry can get a regular run in the side sounds a bit optimistic. I wouldn't be surprised to see us build him back to fitness before seeing if he can sink or swim on loan somewhere. Hopefully in the Premier League.

If I was to be critical of Jack over the years it would be this part of his game. Passing moves at Arsenal often ended with Wilshere over hitting a pass to a forward or passing it the opposite side of the forwards run. It often brings me back to that game at White Hart Lane before we traveled to Bayern Munich and went on that long unbeaten run. We were very much in control of that Derby game and had started the game with great desire and spirit. We had Tottenham pinned in their own half not managing to get through our pressing. Wilshere had many a chance to play our forwards in as both teams deployed a high line but time after time Wilshere wasted the final pass then came the kick in the nuts. We do not have another Mesut Özil. But at least the injury is in the strongest area of the squad. With Theo Walcott almost back someone like the Ox must have wondered where his regular game time would come from. If Oxlade-Chamberlain can stay fit (no giggling at the back) then maybe he can use these 3 months as the time to complete his development or at least head in that direction. Losing Mesut could shore us up defensively a little more and who knows, perhaps the new system will be in full working order by the time Mesut is back so his qualities can be better used with the team firing. That's the last of the positives found in the side of my sofa.

The idea of using Alexis Sanchez in that position was an exciting prospect this summer, a good chance to inject some much needed pace into the team but also having the feet to create his own chances. The team had missed those qualities with Giroud leading the line but when you flipped it around it wasn't difficult to see what the team would miss with that switch. The first half at Goodison park was pretty much all the proof needed. It is the reason why the likes of Walcott and Podolski have not proved to be consistent performers in that centre forward position so far in their Arsenal careers. The striking thing about this deal is that it effectively kills Yaya Sanogo as Arsène Wenger would say. Sanogo is two years younger than Welbeck but Arsène Wenger isn't going to pay £16m to put the player behind Sanogo. Arsène has been very vocal in his praise for Sanogo, he said we would see what a player Sanogo would be but those comments changed during Arsène's last press conference, telling everyone that the lack of goals were playing on his strikers mind. It looks as if Yaya will be pulled away from the firing line and will have to work hard to get back into the fold especially with Theo on his way back.

While Joel does not yet have the experience of the German I get the feeling that Campbell has more tools to work with and could offer the team more in terms of mobility, pace and creativity. But League cup games aside it's hard to see Campbell getting a chance when we have more established players in his position. Perhaps there is an area of his game that Arsène wants him to work on before he is unleashed, who knows.
Arsène also said that he was not against signing a defensive midfielder before the close of the window which is probably another way of saying he wants to buy one but in a manner that doesn't come across as
