The Fundamental Scientific Laws of the Transfer Window

Basically, at the heart of it most professional footballers are slimy, greasy dollar-hounds who will jump at a better contract with a larger salary and we just have to accept it. “They’re just like regular people,” we say, “anyone would jump at the chance to change jobs if they were offered more money!” Exactly, which is why I’m pleased to announce I’m leaving my job as a science professor to go and work in

Time to maximise our resources

The former can be solved in a somewhat straightforward manner. Prune the squad of underperforming and overpaid members (you know who they are) and replace them with genuine quality that can be relied upon to step up. Oh, and keep RvP. I personally have taken great heart in the acquisition of Lukas Podolski and am equally excited by the rumours surrounding Yann M'Vila. I sense a shift in the Club's recruitment policy over the past twelve-months and I hope my instinct doesn't prove to be a mirage. Signings of the calibre and experience of Arteta, Mertesacker and Podolski give me optimism that change is afoot. A couple more arrivals in this bracket plus

Headed your way this summer: Interminable speculation and bewildering misinformation

Arsenal are headed into the off-season of 2012 facing a very similar situation. The future of our captain and star player remains very much up in the air., and a lengthy, drawn-out conclusion looms ominously on the horizon. Will he stay? I’ve got no idea. Whatever his choice may be, this time around we need to employ swift and decisive action. If he signs on the dotted line, then lets go out there and recruit some new faces. Podolski is an excellent start, and Yann M’Vila would be a brilliant acquisition - assuming the maelstrom of tales

Your Vision – What is Alex Song’s Best Role?

Some might say that M’Vila isn’t necessarily the answer with questions regarding his quality and temperament still in doubt. I haven’t seen much and the most I have seen of him are youtube videos. But the stats do back up the fact that defensively he is more solid than Song. The margin isn’t much but football is a game that is decided by the smallest of margins. With 3.1 tackles a game and with 2.5 interceptions, M’Vila’s stats are better than those of Song who has managed

Arsenal Vision Writers End of Season Awards 2011/12

if it’s a youngster breaking into the team then it has to be Oxlade-Chamberlain (which I’ve taken to pronouncing purely in a French accent: ox-lard sham-blon) and if it’s a first teamer developing it has to be Koz-chel-knee. I’m going to go with the former since I actually thought Kosasaurus was a beast last year and I want to award it to a younger player because I miss my childhood and deserve

Your Vision – Arsenal – Moving Forward (away from Spurs for good)‏

Our current squad do have some quality, and a lot of depth - some in the form of deadweight & ghost workers. I reckon if we could just bring in another 2 or 3 more fine players like Podolski, while keeping hold on our current key players, we could really, truly, finally challenge at the highest level with sufficient quality depth. Many fans are yearning for new quality names at the back of their jerseys, and others waiting to jump on the bandwagon when Arsenal go out to show more

West Brom (a) – 3rd, Gibbs tackle & Foundations for improvements

Benayoun's early goal was not going to be the only similarity to the Norwich game. Andre Santos had dashed inside to close down a passing option, Vermaelen was goal side of Shane Long but decided to push out and catch the forward in an offside position which to be fair, he was exactly that. The assistant referee did not give the call and Long raced clear to side foot past Szczesny. At that stage of the game with the Norwich errors in mind, the sensible option may have been to

Your Vision – Transfers & Musings

I'll talk about the players we WON'T sign this summer, the players I think we should and could buy, and finally what I think will actually happen. So to get one thing straight, we will not buy any player that other clubs of similar or bigger stature to us are interested in buying, we won't go into a bidding war with the likes of City, Utd, chelsea ...etc. so Hazard won't be coming, the likes of Falcao, Cavani, Gotze won't be coming and I don't think Yan M'villa will be as well. I know there has

Happy St Totteringham's Day – Season Articles & Photo Special

The North London derby is the name of the football local derby between two North London based teams – Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Both Arsenal and Tottenham (often referred to by their nickname, Spurs) fans have recognized each other as rivals despite the fact that, until recently, they rarely competed in the same area on the table. Arsenal traditionally has been a top 4 team while Spurs had been competing for mid table. With Spurs' recent success, they have vaulted themselves to the top 6 and, in 2010, they qualified for the UEFA Champions League by placing within the top 4. Since, they have competed with Arsenal for Champions League places.

My mate is in the Arsenal PR department and gives me all the insider knowledge…

The Norwich game wasn’t pleasant viewing, was it? No.. It was bordering on farcical; almost pantomime-like defending and a bewildering lack of concentration when there was much at stake. Fortunately, the footballing gods saw fit to grant us yet another chance to end the season on a good note. Proceedings should really have been finished and secured a long time ago, but the concept is simple enough
