Players possibly staying and new signings? So far so good

Many are suggesting that we move Thomas Vermaelen to left back but I just do not see that working in our system. I am sure he can do a job there, in fact he has played there for Ajax on many occasions but at Arsenal our full backs are required to be mobile and dynamic, sprinting forward to support our attacks whilst having the speed and energy to get back and defend. I do not see Vermaelen being that type of player. If he was to play full back, it would more than likely be in a

Gazidis defends Wenger & Gervinho in Arsenal talks

David Dein's name was mentioned a few times during the Q&A. This rather strange perception that David Dein was the messiah that brought us trophies is utter madness. David Dein did not push Arsene into buying players. David Dein did not send his personal scouting system around the world to find talents like Vieira, Petit, Anelka, Overmars, Ljungberg, Pires etc etc It was the manager. When David Dein was around we were not scrimping and saving, fighting against huge investment with one arm

What do Alisher Usmanov, Barack Obama and Nick Clegg Have In Common?

What that tells us is that however honest and impeccably straight Mr Usmanov might have been during the interview the fact remains that it is remarkably easy to make promises while acting on them remains beyond your present capabilities. And there is a vast history of just these types of promises being shattered into a million tiny lies as soon as the power to act on them is granted to the person

Usmanov’s late night blogging, Wenger on Cesc future & Diaby problems

With Pat Rice wavering over his future, shouldn't we just kick old Pat to the curb because as we all know and have sat in the training sessions, he offers absolutely nothing to Arsene Wenger. Usmanov is the man with the tactical plan. He knows where we are weak or is it that he has read the opinion of many an Arsenal fan around the blogs? This absolutely reeks of a man who has regurgitated as much information that he has been able to muster from a section of disgruntled Arsenal supporters.
I can envisage him sitting on his desktop PC late an night with only a pair of white Y-fronts on, copying and pasting views of Arsenal supporters and then using the information to formulate 'his'

Why Wengerball can mistranslate into complacency

One of Wenger's many questions during this summer should be how to produce winning football when the team is not clicking, either through lack of confidence or injury. This is part of the reason why Arsenal more than our rivals end up falling into a ditch without being able to climb out. Chelsea and Manchester United play more functional football that does not rely as much on combinations and movement and more importantly confidence  so when they do not play well, they are still more than capable of beating the opposition. More often than not, we need to play well to win games.
Going back to Van Persie's comments, he is correct. It is down to the players to show that they can

Your Vision – Fact or Fiction, Ins and Outs

Story number 3 Clichy to leave, last year of his contract, hasn't signed a new deal and no updates on progress of negotiations. This one might have legs, Clichy is Arsenal's longest serving player and so clearly has some loyalty to the club. The story goes Clichy wants Arsenal to sign big name(again) players before he signs a new deal but hang on a second has Clichy even been offered a new deal? no one at Arsenal or Clichy himself said anything about talks over a new deal.Clichy has according to all sides regressed over the last 3 years, just when he was starting to fulfil his potential he turned around

Hazard, Samba, Oxlade-Chamberlain & Premium number phone calls

Back in my school days I didn't have such beauties such as the Internet, Caught offside, Tribal Football and Twitter, instead I used to phone premium numbers. It wasn't premium numbers that young boys usually call either, it was for Arsenal gossip. Unfortunately back then I was stupid enough to believe what they were saying (in slow motion I may add) was somewhere near the truth instead of a money making scam to rip off gullible young folk. If Twitter was around back then, then perhaps I wouldn't have been banned from using the phone at home. Ah, those were the days. Days of Andy Sinton and

It's All Wenger's Fault

The first thing that this adventure has taught is that our DNA as Arsenal fans must dictate that we attack each other incessantly, Twitterly disputing each and every individual, minute, tiny little atomic piece of information, news, gossip and/or complete and utter tripe. Every time a story is released –  accurate or not - it is effectively thrown to the lions as literally thousands of Arsenal followers rip every aspect of its content to shreds before leaving the decaying carcass of a valid argument to turn on each
