The midfield had started very brightly, Alex Song held back in the early stages while Abou Diaby and Jack Wilshere played further forward trying to make things happen around the opposition penalty box. Diaby had continued where he left off against Chelsea
Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott rejoin the squad following long injuries. Cesc Fabregas, Thomas Vermaelen and Bacary Sagna are close but not close enough to be involved later on this afternoon. However we should see at least Cesc in midweek against FC Shakhtar Donetsk
Arsene Wenger in my opinion has not only changed the way Arsenal play but has changed the face of English football. When Arsene arrived from Japan, not a single person came out in the press to sing his praises, there wasn't even anyone to slag him off and tell us how he's nowhere near the man we needed for the job
Arsene has said that Koscielny is out with a back problem and Thomas Vermaelen is ten days or so away which should mean that Johan Djourou who classed himself as 100% fit should come in and partner the Squiller. Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner are back in the squad which is great
I could understand the interest. In some ways I think a player like Denilson would be a more important target than our captain Cesc Fabregas. Denilson may not have the DNA but his reading of the game, ability to keep possession and keep the ball moving along with his intercepting skills just points to a the perfect Barcelona target. If there is an interest then I wouldn't be surprised if he made a name for himself when he came off the bench at the Emirates
what do you make of the tackling debate? Interesting isn't it? I have never even heard anything about it until De Jong's tackle and Danny Murphy's comments. This is the first time it has ever been brought to our attention. Or so it seems, so we are made to believe. I dunno, I get the sense of deja vu when speaking of the recklessness in the game but not one person has linked it with Arsene Wenger's RECENT comments. Journalists and pundits are usually so good at knitting themes together but they have missed this one, why the hell is that?
You would struggle to find a player in world football better at intercepting passes. There are not many better sights when watching Arsenal than an opposition player playing a ball to the feet of a team mate at the half way line
Tomas Rosicky appears to be the polar opposite to Arshavin. He has flown out of the traps this season, recapturing some of his earlier Arsenal form. Often playing in his natural central attacking role, he has shone. Orchestrating the play as only Mozart can do
Throwing Wilshere into the first team as a starter for the seniors is not something that I think should be rushed at the momenet, having said that bringing Wilshere off the bench to replace someone like Gerrard when the game is safe would be a good thing for Jack so I can understand the clamour to have Wilshere in both squads
